Tour de Suisse - Stage 2
jandal7
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/tds/tds2_0.jpg

The second stage of the Tour de Suisse actually takes place in Hannover, Germany. Many teams have brought strong squads for this one, such as Jayco, Porto-Prio, Tinkoff and Aegon.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/tds/tds2_1.jpg

As I mentioned before, Tinkoff are one of the main favourites and are up first and will provide a tough benchmark for all the other teams. They set good times at all checkpoints and end up with a time of 38'24.

Jayco-Cobra9 are also up early but can't outdo Tinkoff at any checkpoints, but stay close and only lose 21 seconds to the Russians. Unfortunately, in the heat of the chase they dropped leader Lachie Morton!

Pendleton's have brought a quietly strong team to support Dombrowski here, and showcase it with a good performance, ending up 50 seconds off of the leading time.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/tds/tds2_4.jpg

Hugo Boss, in service of Alarcon, are a disgrace to Spanish cycling and do pretty well here, only 55 seconds behind. However, they too leave their leader behind in the closing kilometres. Oh dear.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/tds/tds2_5.jpg

The team of (only) Pluchkin, Nemiroff-ABBYY, have a solid enough TTT squad and with their GC man being a former World Champ in the ITT don't have the Jayco and Hugo Boss problem. 1'08" lost at the finish, a provisional 6th.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/tds/tds2_6.jpg

Aegon are very fast and in control around the course and end up 3rd, only 23 seconds down on Tinkoff, and 2 away from Jayco.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/tds/tds2_8.jpg

Spotify - Haglöfs end up 1'31" down, which isn't disastrous for the ambitions of Wellens.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/tds/tds2_9.jpg

No luck for the yellow jersey of Vesely as Moser are well behind, 1'47 behind by the finish line.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/tds/tds2_7.jpg

UBS are one of the top TTT teams in the PCT and with Amador in the squad for this home race you can be sure as hell they'll be up for this one. They don't challenge for the win but only a minute lost isn't bad.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/tds/tds2_11.jpg

Gazelle perform well and are 4th in the end, 39 seconds off the pace, giving Madrazo what looks like a very nice platform going into the first mountain day tomorrow.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/tds/tds2_12.jpg

However, Vesuvio one-up them, giving Schleck an even better position just 26 seconds down.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/tds/tds2_13.jpg

Wiesenhof will be hoping not to concede much time to Taaramae's rivals and will probably be dissapointed to see they were almost two minutes behind on the line.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/tds/tds2_14.jpg

Porto-Prio have been first or second at all the checkpoints, but in the process have dropped Machado. The team will get a bit of pride by only finish 9 seconds behind Tinkoff, but their bigger concern will be on their leader's time.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/tds/tds2_15.jpg

Eritrel finish just outside a minute down, which means that the first team to set out were unbeatable! Cocngratulations to Tinkoff. We have also received word of the dropped leaders: Machado was actually just 49 seconds behind Tinkoff, but Morton and Dombrowski are both over 3 minutes behind on GC now.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/tds/tds2_16.jpg

Adriano Malori wasn't the first to cross the line but he was only member of the Tinkoff squad to cross the line at the front today and yesterday, giving him the GC lead to enjoy tomorrow. Meanwhile, it'd Keizer next to Schleck as the best placed GC men. Tomorrow the riders finally hit the mountains on a stage that includes a brutal double ascent of the Glaubenspielen. Many stories set to unfold with nobody losing much time yet except Kritskiy, Morton and Dombrowski. The white jersey battle has fallen into Oram's hands overnight but really it's Herklotz and Kudus who'll be licking their lips and the sudden multiple-minute advantage on Lachie Morton. Tomorrow should be a cracking stage. Until then, goodbye.
