It's a brilliant day here in Hungary for the second ever running of this race.
Right off the back, ten riders try to form a breakaway. They are Esmaeli, Sanogo, Owen, Koch, Girdlestone, Ockeleon, Joeaar, Sanikwathi, Kasa and Biermans.
The peloton was having none of it and they're chased down.
Looking to take their chances against the pack now are Kasa and Girdlestone.
Soon, its Paluta, Vliegen and Joeaar trying to bridge the gap.
The five riders come together with 165 km to go. They have a 52" lead over the peloton.
But this move too doesn't last.
Finally, after all this, a four rider break is allowed to form and get a gap.
This is the break of the day and it consists of:
Mamykin
Esmaeli
Appleby
Meurisse
100 km left and the break has 5'7" over the peloton.
The peloton have started chasing. Novatek, SPAR, Valio and Indosat are leading them on. 80 km to go. They trail the break by 3'55".
With 45 km to go, Meersman tries a long range attack. He needs to make up 1'41" to bridge the gap to the break.
40 km to go. A group containing some of the race favourites have been dropped! Van der Sande, Vantomme, Gillett, Lo Cicero and Itami are the riders in this group. There was no crash, so either they are all feeling really bad today or they had horrible positioning going over the short climb.
And now Thorsen is distanced! The hills are having an effect on this race it seems! All this has happened on the climb in the penultimate circuit.
28 km. The gap to the dropped sprinters has increased. Clifford puts the hammer down and brings the gap to the break down to 43".
The break is caught with 15 km left. Rowe attacks immediately in search of solo glory.
Daniel takes up the chase in the peloton.
Rowe is caught as the peloton reach the climb on the last circuit. 13 km to go. 36 riders get dropped on the hill but none of the remaining big names are involved.
5 km left. No sprint train has formed. Vermote, Kwok, Hayakawa and Vanbilsen lead the peloton onwards.
Half that distance left now. Some sprinters don't even wait for trains and launch the sprint. Castaneda, Trusov and Nepomnyachsniy lead the charge. Holloway finds himself in about 12th position now. Most of the race favourites are in bad positions.
Castaneda is already burnt out. Holloway leads with Rowe right beside him. It's a mess!
1.2 km and the situation in the first five rows is as below:
Rowe Hayakawa Holloway Thomas Gaviria Ji Guerao Kuznetsov Boy Van Poppel
800 meters and it has changed again:
Reckweg Matthews Vasyluk Bar Gaviria Caldeira Van Poppel Kuznetsov Arashiro Ji Guerao Goss Vanbilsen Rowe Bennett Hayakawa Thomas Holloway
After the final turn, and with 300 meters to go. It is Holloway and Goss leading the field. Guerao now looks odd-on for 3rd. But who will win?
Goss is getting closer as we move inside the last 100 meters.
And Goss takes it on the line! An incredible burst of speed from the Aussie there! Holloway has to settle for 2nd.
Guerao holds off an even faster finishing Caldeira at the line for 3rd. Where did the Grieg rider find that from?
Behind them, it is incredibly close with Bar taking 5th, followed in order by Thomas, Rowe, Ji, Vanbilsen and Kuznetsov completing the top 10.
Today's winner - Matthew Goss.
