2 sprint stages so far and twice a rather weird result with the top sprinters not really finding their rhythm here and so far underperformed. Today surely the last chance for those as tomorrow is the final GC day with an Ardennes kind of stage.

Netia with 3 riders controlling the peloton but they are no sprinter team and neither are very strong. Hence not the team that has to force a sprint finish today.

Weirdly the sprinter teams not helping out a lot as they apparently are too tired after the previous stages.

Hence with 10km to go the gap is still at 3'30 and now Euskaltel and Haute Route decide to start working. Might be far too late and also not smart to now use their GC riders Pinot and Van den Broeck. Well, it`s just 10km of work for them...

The breakaway knows they will win today but who of the 3?

Denz wants to avoid a sprint and attacks with 8km to go.

Manakov though is almost jumping to him at the 4km mark and only young future great Oomen can`t follow this move and might have to settle with 3rd. Still a nice result early on in his career.

Reichenbach is dropped and no news about a crash or more likely a puncture were sent out. Hence I can only guess that it must have been a technical. At least with 8km left for the peloton this is worst possible time for such thing and his 18th in the GC with potentially climbing tomorrow would instead drop the other way.

Meanwhile to the front again and Manakov didn`t only join Denz but also passed him. Well done and now moving around the final corner with 1,5km to go and having a gap himself now.

Nice win for MOL and Manakov in especially. Yet again the sprinter teams fail here in Eritrea and the strongest in the break wins.

Oomen even up to 2nd as Denz totally collapsed. His days in the breakaways so far surely worked against him after his attack.

2'34 later the peloton finishes and sprints for 4th. Not really what they came for.

Itami takes it ahead of a pretty consistent Reinhardt and Lobato, who yet again beats his actual sprint leader Bouhanni (14.).
Guardini at 7th while Keukeleire, Silvestrea didn`t even participate to 100% today.

Last but not least Reichenbach unfortunately losing around 4min and drops in the GC clearly.
