Look for it to reach the news in exactly a few hours.
Boonen took cocaine and is probably banned from cycling for the next 2 years. |

Even though I am not a fan of Boonen, it is horrible, two notes however, this is a Dutch language paper, and even though it is Belgian, it is Dutch reporting on a Belgian rider, so it might be like the French Media's 10-year crusade against Lance, secondly, a question, because Cocaine is not a steroid, will he have his palamares from the last few years stripped from him?

Schumacher was given a slap on the wrist and allowed to go free for his WC party drug thing.

Yeah I thought I beat you to posting it here since you would give the message the unavoidable anti-Boonen touch.

they might agree to a similar situation for Boonen as well given his star status. But it remains to be seen. But in the end, it prolly didn't allow him to 'cheat' like epo does, so for the sport, it wouldn't necessarily have to be considered as 'bad'. But everyone will look different towards him now and his star status is gone with the wind for sure. |

I cant help but think what effect this will have on cycling. One of the biggest stars, the rider that just about all belgiums want to see gone... |

Haha, that certainly made me laugh.
I wouldn't be surprised, though, if UCI held their hands over him. I don't think he will be suspended for more than a couple of months (I mean -- when being a friend of UCI, you can get three months even though you have blood values like a child).
In any case, it's Boonen's own fault, so I don't feel sorry for him at all. |

The newspaper is as Belgian as it gets . (don't realy like the paper, cuz there's tons of errors in it but doubt there wrong in this)
Besides that Boonen probably won't be suspended, got caught outside of competition (cocaine use outside ain't forbidden, atleast not for wada), but belgian authorities are handing over the file, because he got caught just 3 days infront of the tour of belgian. ... so will see what happens.
Similar to this case Vanoppen (cyclocross) (who named Boonen as his coke dealer) got caught with cocaine and never got taken out of competition. (he just recently quit)
Anyway doubt this will come as a shock to alot of Belgians , alot of rumours going around allready. And i did have a good laugh this morning lol, crashing his car getting caught on cocaine sounds familiar, didn't Belgium used to have another god child at the end of the 90's Oh ye we did VDB B)

Anyone twigged that if Boonen gets suspended, the likelihood of Quickstep continuing their sponsorship in the for of Belgian team decreases. We could be waving goodbye to High Road, unless they find a title sponsor, CSC, who knows what Rijs has up his sleeve though, Quickstep. Who's next to leave?

Oh no, I haven't see that come. On the other side I understand if it was too hard for Boonen to keep away from drugs, when he live a life as a rock star |

No, Freire will still win it, just as he would if Boonen was there

Gerolsteiner, Cofidis and CA also finish sponsorship this season. High Road say they can go for another season after this one without a sponsor.

he had 3 years and he couldn't, so he had to beg Quickstep to sponsor the team this season while he tried again (the contract with quickstep ended last year) and they did just as a favour. I'm pretty sure quickstep is a gonner.

I don't know if he'll get suspended as it was an out of competition control.
Ah well, VDB committed suicide and reincarnated into Boonen. |
