6 stages down, and still 19 riders are in the GC battle. Surely this is the stage where some of the strongest riders step forward to stake their claim for victory? It may be a downhill finish, but it is very close to the end of a long climb, offering plenty of opportunity.
The most interesting move in the early breakaway skirmishes came from Statoil, with Taborre and Jacobsen going together.
Didn't help them much though, as a break of 7 went away with no Statoil riders in it.

Lewis and Moyano are back for the 2nd day running. With Suaza crashing out of contention, it looks like Shaun Lewis is chasing the KoM jersey to save the race for Eddie Stobart.
He could take the lead by winning the first climb, for 5 points, but no favours are given from the others. Instead it is Nzeke who crosses first.
It turns out that was his only opportunity too.
Moyano won the first intermediate sprint - by virtue of leading the break at the time, not by sprinting - and then a long flat section of course followed. Moyano would win the 2nd sprint too, but only just, as Kaislavuo rode straight past him just over the line. The breakaway have been caught.
Time for action then! Khripta goes with Bardet with 20km to go.
The move didn't work, but Bardet is off again just before 14 km to go - where the first KoM of the climb is. This being an unusual climb, as it has two points opportunites along the way.
Repsol are leading the pack and that is Serrano who takes 2nd place. That will move him into the KoM lead, ahead of teammate Prado.
Bardet perserveres until 10km to go, when he is caught again. Leader Anton is right up there, as are Wiggle's Delage and Konwa. Working for Pozzovivo perhaps?
The peloton is still 80 strong, and the gradient only 3%. Still, let's wait for the next attack.
*tumbleweed*
5km to go then...
Finally, right at the top it is Rujano who goes, followed by Bardet. Valls and Cataldo are looking to follow, 3rd and 4th on the top.
Incidentally, those points means that Rujano will share the KoM lead with Serrano!
And he has a gap, together with Bardet! Atapuma leads the chasing peloton in the background. There's only 1.6km to go, it's going to be these two for the stage.
We thought Rujano's only chance for a surprise race lead was yesterday, maybe not, but he's going to need to win the stage and Bardet has forced him to do all the work. The descent has actually ended here, so time to sprint with 500 metres remaining.
José Rujano manages to hold off the Frenchman. He wins the stage and takes the race lead!
Wiggle lead in the chasers - preventing any time gain besides bonuses - with Konwa 3rd and 5th. As with Stage 6, Telia are prominent in the finish too. Today De Marchi is 4th, with Haceky 6th.
Nzeke hung around after his breakaway efforts for 7th, while Ruijgh, Atapuma and Khripta complete the Top 10.
A front group of 49 in the end, and a small amount of additional attrition in the GC front, as we go from 19 contenders to 17. More specifically, Aeropostal go from 5 contenders to 3.
Their young riders Pereyra and Lemus Davila losing 2'41 and 3'13 respectively. Lucky for them, closest U25 rival Ahmad Zamri was also in that 2'41 group, missing out on the chance to move to the same time as Pereyra. Campari's Ikibe and Reddit's Manfredi did finish in the front group, but are both still outside the Top 5 in that competition.
Salleh continues to hold the Points jersey lead, with Rujano moving to within 22 points and De Marchi to 27 behind.
