Let's get the Vuelta al Tachira underway.

Three men made it into the breakaway, including one rider from Venezuela.

But Albert Kireva, the Zimbabwean on an Andorran team, was the star of the break - winning both intermediate sprints.

In the peloton, Sauber, Reddit and Balkan showed interest in chasing the break down. Some curious choices of relayers at times though: Balkan's GC leader Karnulin, and Sauber's leadout man Awang.

They and their teammates did their job, and the breakaway was caught.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/red.png Team Reddit surged forward in a bid to make the strongest leadout train, but neither Canelon nor Anacona could get things well organised for Kip. Instead it is pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/spr.png Awang, now in lead out mode, who takes the front with Salleh.

Nobody seems to follow Sauber, but pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/bcp.png Mezgec is there hovering to the side of Salleh, and seems to have been duped into a leadout role for pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/csd.png Gatto, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/phc.png Kreder and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/kul.png Hochmann. Fisher, Martinez and Stacchiotti are also in the mix, while the pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/san.png SanCor duo of Andriato and Juarez separate the Reddit pair of Canelon and Kip - the latter followed by Angarita.

Kreder tries to fight back, but pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/kul.png Jíri Hochmann wins the stage! It's his first win since 2014.

Kreder takes 2nd, while Gatto is rewarded with 3rd place. Martinez picked the right wheel to punch above his weight for 4th. A botched lead-out made it tricky for Kip to beat 5th - but he at least beat the only man with a lead-out, Salleh. Angarita took 7th, while Fisher edged out the SanCor duo in a tight battle for the final ranking point.

Finishing 14th, Dylan Kennett was the fastest young rider.

Not much reward for the breakaway trio today - they were the only ones dropped from the peloton.
