Continental Championships - American TT
Roman
Welcome to San José, the capital and largest city of Costa Rica! American Time Trial is on the programme today. And it is raining and quite a lot windy!

The biggest favourite is surely Phinney. His biggest challengers should be Nascimento, Cataford, Bookwalter, Uran and home hero Amador.

Sepulveda is the first decent time trialist to start. And to finish as well. His time is a lot dissapointing and loses to even a rider like Huezo.

Josue Gonzalez Cortesm time 60m14s goes into the lead as home fans go crazy!

Both Jaime Suaza and Christian Meier are unable to beat Gonzalez Cortes as they finish 3, respectively 11 seconds behind him.

But a only while later Aggrey Sebright is the new leader with time 59m54s.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/CC/AmericaTT/06.jpg

However Christian Egidio surprisingly smashes the current leading time and takes a huge lead with time 58m57s!

Both Richard Antonio Carapaz (60m24s) and Yonathan Monsalve (60m35s) record decent times, but it wonmt be enough for a top 10 finish.

Laureano Rosas almost catches Campero on the road, but his time (60m03s) is only good for provisional 3rd place.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/CC/AmericaTT/08.jpg

Fabio Duarte disappoints (60m20s) and 6th provisional place surely is worse than expected from experienced Colombian.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/CC/AmericaTT/09.jpg

Chiarello is another Brazilian who surpries today as he is surely going to be quite happy with 6th provisional place and time 60m15s.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/CC/AmericaTT/10.jpg

One of the biggest favourites Bookwalter is fast, but not fast enough to beat Egidio. 11 secs slower (59m08s).

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/CC/AmericaTT/11.jpg

Federico Alejandro Munoz surprises everyone and goes 4th (59m57s)!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/CC/AmericaTT/12.jpg

Flavio De Luna posts another quite a bit surprising time of the day. Provisional 3rd place and time 59m30s.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/CC/AmericaTT/13.jpg

Abreu finishes 57 secs down on Egidio (59m54s) and that means provisional 4th place.

Just last 8 riders left. Ortega dissapoints a lot (60m34s), as Ramos Ticona comes in with a little bit better time (60m16s). Pereyra has a really bad day (60m48s).

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/CC/AmericaTT/14.jpg

The next rider to finish is home superstar Andrey Amador who surely would love to get a medal on home soil. However his time (59m28s) is unlikely going to be good enough for him to achieve that, only a provisional 3rd place for Andrey.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/CC/AmericaTT/15.jpg

The star of Minions Rigoberto Uran surely wonmt be happy with his result today. The time 59m56s is likely going to be enough just to stay in the top 10 in the end of the day.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/CC/AmericaTT/16.jpg

And it is Alex Cataford who finally beats the time of the biggest surprise of the day who is Christian Egidio. Cataford is 28 secs faster (58m29s) and who knows - this time may even be enough to beat his RBCms colleague Phinney, or maybe not...

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/CC/AmericaTT/17.jpg

One thing was sure even before Rodrigo Nascimento has finished. It is a certain medal for Brazil. But Nascimento wonmt be the rider to win it not only for Brazil, but for Porto - Prio as well. Provisionally 6th, narrowly slower than De Luna (59m31s)

Only one man to finish...

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/CC/AmericaTT/18.jpg

The clear favourite of the day is Taylor Phinney. It would be surely a huge surprise if he is unable to take the gold medal today. And even if it is close, he wins by 13 seconds (58m16s)! Another win for the American legend!
