I've always wanted to do this so I shall. However, it is just on the side of my doi story
This British continental registered team are on the third tier of pro cycling. But they are ambitious and look to develop, hoping to take their place as the first British ProTour team and earn their place in the Tour.
They have a relatively small budget for the season, but it should be adequate to fulfil their needs.
Their goals are based in Britain and Ireland and will be tough to succeed in.
They have a strong squad for their size though and with all that talent they could develop far.
We'll see how they act in the first transfer window, restricted to British riders.
The team operates a strict anti-doping policy and this may help gain them enry to some bigger races.
This is Rapha-Condor-recycling.co.uk 2008! |

The team have signed a new rider: extremely talented Johnny Bellis.
Third in the U23 World Championships showed his ability, coupled with some other good results in U23 races.
He will be a sprinter for the team and could develop into a very good one; because he can handle hilly or cobbled terrain he can reach the end of a race in better condition than other sprinters.
Other signings will soon be announced. |

The team have announced another signing and another British Olympic prospect: Ben 'Swifty' Swift.
Like Bellis but less developed, a sprinter who is good in the hills.
He should develop into another valuable part of Rapha's many-pronged sprinting attack.

The team have completed their squad for 2008, adding Swift and Bellis to their ranks.
They have now named their 2 team leaders: for the sprints and classics: Dean 'Deano' Downing.
For the un-mountainous stage races and TTs: Chris Newton
Dean Downing:
Chris Newton:
Other riders may lead in more specialised races or when these two are'nt racing
Rapha will start their season at the 1.2 ranked Tour of Wellington with Newton leading the GC charge and Downing going for the sprints.

Tour of Wellington Stage 1
The first race of the season for Rapha is a 9km ITT, with Chris Newton hoping for a top 10 to set up a GC win.
Zirbel was out on course, looking for the win.
He finished 10th, though, 20 seconds behind the winner.
David McCann was the best time triallist riding and was, by rights, the favourite.
And he produced the goods on the day, storming round in 12"20.
Fredrik Johansson looked his likeliest challenger but he couldn't match the pace, ending 6th, 12 seconds back.
Chris Newton of Rapha was next out and he did relatively well, despite horrific sickness before the race. He finished 8th at 16 seconds.

It will be Deano's turn to perform tomorrow. |

By the way, it's good that you are concentrating on the other story! I like that. |
