Ok, here I go: my first story.
I need motivation to play and by informing you of how I do, may just so be the way.
I'm choosing Saunier Duval as my team. I've always liked them and they've a few riders who can have a go at grand tours: Ricco, Piepoli and Cobo Acebo to name a few.
I'm using the PCM daily 08 DB (not sure if that's the correct name) and I race on normal difficulty.
Team Roster:
Raivis Belohvosciks - Time Trials
Ivan Parra (signed at start) - Stage Races
Angel 'Litu' Gomez - Climber
Raul Alarcon - Northern Classics
Jose Angel Gomez Marchante - Stage Races
David Canada - Stage Races
Alberto Benitez - Climber
Alberto Fernandez - Climber
Javier Mejias - Climber
Jesus Del Nero - Northern Classics
Arkaitz Duran - Stage Races
Alberto Martinez - Time Trials
Josep Jufre - Climber
Ruben Lobato - Climber
Iker Camano - Stage Races
Juan Jose Cobo Acebo - Stage Races
David De la Fuente - Climber
Benat Intxausti - Stage Races
Hector Gonzalez - Climber
Rubens Bertogliati - Fighter
Adam Blythe (signed at start) - Northern Classics
Leonardo Piepoli - Climber
Stefano Zanini (signed at start) - Northern Classics
Manuele Mori - Puncheur
Eros Capecchi - Climber
Riccardo Ricco - Climber
Ermanno Capelli - Northern Classics
Denis Flahaut - Fighter
Aurelien Passeron - Sprinter
Luciano Pagliarini - Sprinter
(F.Y.I. I may of signed some others on free agents. However, due to my own idiocy, I've forgotten which ones they are, sorry)
Season Goals:
Riccardo Ricco's season diary:
Leonardo Piepoli's season diary:
I'll post more tomorrow...
Any advice you'd like to give, including news of bugs I need to avoid will be much appreciated. For example, I've heard I must simulate the second stage of Paris - Nice, is that true?

Well for Ricco: he wants to ride both and has a two month break after the Giro, so of course he will be looking to ride well in both.
As for the TDF question from Karl_rab (sorry, I don't know how to quoteops
I'm thinking I might stick an all round strong climbing team in with no real leader. Marchante, Cobo Acebo, Camano, Jufre and Parra etc... |

Sounds like a plan, a tactic with that may be just to put all your good riders onto relay at the big mountains and just let them power away from all the faveroutes, i mean if you have 5 strong climbers on relay like the ones we talked about, you could easily destroy some of the big guns!
i cant wait for it!

Down Under Classic
48Kms Adelaide
Riders:
David Canada
Manuele Mori
Rubens Bertogliati
Eros Capecchi
Alberto Fernandez
Arkaitz Duran
Juan Jose Cobo Acebo
David De la Fuente
The Down Under Classic is just 48Km round Adelaide race. A very flat stage; it is definitely one for the sprinters. My riders would just look to get in a breakaway and hope for the best...
The race started off slowly, but after 10Km of riding a large group of riders jumped away, including Rubens Bertogliati. There were 20 riders in this breakaway group.
Soon after this group of 20 were joined by a further six riders, including so called team leader, Cobo Acebo.
However, this was too many riders and although at one point nearly having two minutes over the peloton, they were caught with 17Km to go.
As soon as they were reeled in, Willems, riding on the Liquigas team, went up the road. He was later caught with 10Km to go.
Rick Verbrugghe then had a go for the stage win and was holding a 30 second lead over the main pack.
Behind, the sprinters were forming there express lines, but couldn't take the race win with Verbrugghe holding a 30 second lead.
With 3Km to go and with Verbrugghe still up the road, there was a large crash in the peloton, started by recently crowned Australian national champion, Simon Gerrans. About 20 riders went down in total, including: Capecchi; Cobo Acebo; Fernandez and De la Fuente.
Verbrugghe's lead was dropping and quickly. The inevitable happened just 1.2Km from the line as he was caught by the on rushing pack.
In the mass sprint, it was Astana rider Aaron Kemps, who took the victory, ahead of Matthew Goss of team CSC and third was Milram rider, Alberto Ongarato.

Nice start
You will have to sim the second stage of P-N as it crashes when loading the 3D stage. |

Its weird, because I know lots of people experience crashes on that stage (from reding other peoples stories), but I've raced the Down Under classic quite a few times and theres never been a mass crash yet. I must be doing something wrong. |

Something else I noticed, though not part of the story, was Phil Cortes of the Amore e Vita - McDonald's team sporting the world time trial jersey:
Not a great picture, I know, but trust me. It was the world champions jersey with a light blue stop watch in the middle, which is the time trial one. Unless I missed something, I thought Cancellara has held that position now for two years. Bug or human error in the database?
