Waghlon has passed on the Langkawi baton to me as riders were outraged at the start of the day having only been allocated 1 drink for this:

The attacks from the start saw Ospina (Dasani) and Walker (Pearl Jam) be the strongest
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/MG09/langkawi2.png

B&O seemed very eager to close down some of the attacks but Ospina, Walker and also Dowsett (Procycling) were allowed to stay clear.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/MG09/langkawi3.png

Walker took the KoM points.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/MG09/langkawi4.png

Behind the escapees, Bernabeu, Pugaci, Panayotov and Wegelius all attacked for some KoM points.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/MG09/langkawi5.png
B&O descendced at a fast pace and they quickly caught the 4, splitting the peleton all over the place.

But things settled down again on the flat. Up front, while Dowsett was forced to chase on his own, Ospina managed to catch up with Walker.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/MG09/langkawi6.png

But Ospina only lasted a further 20km before running out of energy, leaving Walker on his own again.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/MG09/langkawi7.png

Still on the flat with 50km to go, Dermot Nally makes a move
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/MG09/langkawi8.png

And he catches up with Hansen as the road begins to rise
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/MG09/langkawi9.png

Hansen is dropped and Nally holds a 40 second lead before with 22km to go, Ricardo Mestre charges past
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/MG09/langkawi10.png

Surprisingly, only Jimenez Sanchez chose to counter.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/MG09/langkawi11.png

Mestre took the KoM points ahead of Jimenez Sanchez. Pugaci and Panayotov attacked for some KoM points but were then brought back in to the ever decreasing pack.

Onto the final climb up to the summit finish, and Mestre has built a 50 second lead over Jimenez Sanchez with a further 50 seconds back to the pack.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/MG09/langkawi12.png

Finally some action came from the chasing group inside the final 5km. Peter Stetina made a surprise attack while relaying which Charly Wegelius immediately latched on to. Wim van Huffel also finally made his move.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/MG09/langkawi13.png

Van Huffel is stronger than Stetina and Wegelius and catches Jimenez Sanchez but with 3km to go, surely 1 minute and 20 seconds is too much to catch up on Mestre
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/MG09/langkawi14.png

Meanwhile, Yukihiro Doi is left as thew only rider trying to close down the 5 men up the road. Pluchkin and Rodrigues seem contempt with letting their teammates battle it out.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/MG09/langkawi15.png

Mestre's gap has gone down by around 10 seconds as he enters the final kilometre.
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/MG09/langkawi16.png

He would need to somehow crash to lose this win, and of course he does not. He takes the stage win and is now looking comfortable overall.

Wim van Huffel trails in in 2nd place, 1'05 behind
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/MG09/langkawi18.png

In the battle for 3rd, the finish comes too soon for Stetina as Jimenez Sanchez only just hangs on
i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa82/SportingNonsense/MG09/langkawi19.png

Wegelius takes a strong 5th place, just ahead of Rodrigues and Pluchkin
