You can only protect with 1 rider, but you can make the "Sky-Train" this year.
Just make a lane of riders by following each other, letting the leader go behind
how effective is the "sky-train" in comparison to the normal "protect rider"
i have the feeling that my rider is more tired when i use the sky train then when i protect him with someone(and protect my second best climber with an other rider) and then on the last climb let my second best climber protect the leader
I think you are right, your leader gets a bit more tired, but not as tired as the rest of the peloton, which has been behind your rhythm all stage long.
If the riders in your train are good(attributes + form/fatigue etc), you can really be effective
my opinion(without testing and without to much knowledge about the game) is that the "sky-train" is only usefull when you are the strongest team and rider in the race, and when you can afford to get your leader a little more tired.
any other situation(underdog/top10 ambitions/top3 ambitions) you should go for protecting

I agree with you, making the train really needs a good team
the train is only effective in really long climbs. using that on flat or hill races will just tire your leader out because he will lose the wheel 50 times because of other riders crossing him, and he will spend enormous amounts of energy getting back in the wheel.
