hilly and mountain equipment

i never saw this theme in the forum so:
what are the differences when choosing equipment to hilly or mountains stages(or classics)?

i only use a c1 for flats and c2 for mountain/hilly, how about you?

I've heard that the material has no or only very little effect, so in general I don't use much time on choosing equipment.

Quite agreed with CrueTrue. There are not frankly better to do but only pay attention to have an appropriate equipement about kind of stage it is.

Well, I don't know if it has an effect, but I have a third setup that is kind of 50/50 (ends up being 42flat/42mth/24TT.

Any stage that has a flat ending but has lots of hills generally gets that setup for me. I also use it for hilly/mountain TT's where you can't use TT equipment.

But from what I understand it really matters very little. I'm looking for any advantage I can get though.

this system should be changed for more realistic purposes(carrer mode)
in the beginning of the year you should choose one brand per type of equipment(some brands have more than one type, like b'twin)and each brand would have their pros and cons(like that brand is more suited for flat or TT, and it varies from year to year depending on the riders results)
