How to Pull Back the Breakaway?

Hi all. Just wondering if anybody has any advice on how to pull back the breakaway on flat stages? I've done the Tour Down Under and found it very very difficult - breaks of 9 or 10 riders were forming and I'd get the gap down to a minute with 15km to go and they'd hold out at about 40 secs until the end.I always stick riders on the front but it seems never to be enough. Is the issue I'm letting breaks form too easily at the beginning of the stage? Do I need to chase down bigger breaks and keep it to a couple of minutes? Any advice much appreciated!

I advise you to use your riders in early stages of the race,, first 50 kilometers other teams won't be chasing as hard as they do in last kilometers. Just keep the gap steady in the first half, I'm sure the break will be caught by the other teams help to you in the second half of the race.

And dont allow to break 9-10 people. 6-7 is max
