Transfer issues in long careers

Is there any way to fix the massively messed up transfer engine, that really takes a lot of the enjoyment out of long careers for me when all teams lose their characteristics (e.g. 1 Danish rider in total on 5 Danish CT-teams).

Does anyone know for sure what the upper limit of "value_i_importance" in "DYN_Sponsor_regions" is - or knows for a fact that it doesn't work at all anymore?

I'm still playing PCM 14 and have played several careers over 10+ years and I'd say you must be very unlucky. Also, maybe the game doesn't generate enough Danish newgens. Did you check other nations?

I just took a look into a save game at the end of 2026. I knew value_i_importance and value_i_wanted_squad worked for your own team (the way the sponsor judges your squad) but I believe it also works for the AI teams.

I think you should change the latter of these two, it's a percentage figure (so 50 means 50% of the riders should be from this country), the former I think is just how good (=reputation) the best rider from that country should be. Though I have just seen sponsors who want 100% of their riders from one country but also good riders from two other countries (with 0%?). Don't know how that's supposed to work.

Anyway, at random a few teams: WT team Orica wants 60% Australians and has 50%. WT team Movistar wants 65% Spaniards and has 50%. Conti team Adria Mobil wants 80% Slovenians and has 42%. Pro Conti team Bigmat want 85% French and has 45%. Conti team LKT Brandenburg wants 95% Germans and has 60%.

Danish: Conti team Cult Energy wants 100% Danes (but also Norwegians with importance 2 and 0%) Only 6 out of 20 riders (30%) are Danish, also 30% are Norwegian. Conti team Christina Watches wants 60% Danes and only has 5 out of 23 (22%). And, I'm sad to report, WT team Tinkoff-Saxo wants 40% Danes and has none.

So a bit inconclusive, as I said, I fear that you have too many Danish teams/sponsors active (I only have those three) and just not enough Danish riders. If that's the case you can try and fiddle with the regen.xml (or maybe somebody else on the forum can help you). Also, I have extended all sponsor contracts (in dyn_sponsors) by 20+ years so they never change. If you don't do that it might be that a Danish sponsor has just taken over an Australian team and it can take ages for the team to hire Danish riders, if any are even available.

Could be that I'm unlucky, but it's a general issue across all teams in my be a career gone to 2028 (the issue started after a few seasons though). For the Danish example there's plenty of Danish riders around just none of them on a Danish team Wink.

I always thought that the importance number was a weighting of how important it is as in the higher the number the more they care and that the percentage is the proportion so if they want 50% of a certain nationality a sponsor with importance 3 will get pissed if it's not fulfilled and a sponsor with 1 doesn't really care.

Before PCM15 I've latest had long careers on PCM11, where it worked much better.

The way I read those two numbers is based on the feedback you get from your sponsor about your team:

Maybe that's all this table is good for and has nothing to do with how the AI hires riders. Still, my example was from 2026, so full of newgens, and if it were totally random you wouldn't see 50% of the riders from the sponsor's country. Even 42% for the Slovenian team and there aren't that many Slovenian riders. So my guess stands, you just have too many Danish teams and not enough riders (and/or some are too good for the CT and get picked up by better teams).
