Colombian National Championships

Welcome to the National Championships of Colombia! 23 riders will race the mountains course, which seems only natural for Colombians.

As usual we get an early breakaway. Tamayo Martinez (EUS), Osorio (AZT) and Valencia (FRS) are the leading trio. Behind them is a clutch of weaker climbers in Ochoa (WCC), Avila (CHI), Gaviria (LPU) and Bolivar (EVO), but they are suffering and unlikely to contest the lead trio.

With 2km to go Osorio attacks the break. He's the better climber and perhaps is scared of being out dashed...

The ITT could be close. Sergio Henao was a good time setter when he went out, but once we got to the two favorites it was clear we had a two-man battle on our hands.

Zapata (WCC) was first of the two. 1'20'57 was a good time, getting him clear of Henao.

Agudelo (GAZ) was following, and was 1" to the good at Chrono 1. At Chrono 2 Agudelo had slipped to -1" on Zapata, setting up a tense finish....

Jairo Agudelo pulls it out in the finish, beating Zapata by less than a second in a real see-saw battle for the ITT crown.
