Welcome to the opening National Championships race! Today we have the riders who already netted their jerseys by being the only eligible riders from their respective nations. You could call it, the Race of Champions!
32 Riders will tackle the Flat NC route, 64km of very flat terrain.
Betilson, representing Angola, attacks first with Esmaeli, representing Qatar. Aaaaand no-one else wants to go with them. Aaaaaand no-one fancies setting the pace.
Thus we have our winner guaranteed to come from either of these two, or we have some incredible bad luck.
With 4km to go Betilson decides he wants to try and put on some show and attempts to drop Esmaeli.
It works! Esmaeli can't bridge back across in time, and Betilson claims an easy victory to be crowned Champion of Champions!
De Maar won the group sprint for third, but everyone had gone home by then.

It was the Kenya Airways show in the ITT. The pre-race favorites of Richard Laizer and Albert Kireva crushed the race. The last two off the line and they promptly went ahead to go quickest at all intermediate checks.
Omarsson edged our De Maar for third, with a good gap behind them to 5th place Salcone.
Well deserved for the Africans, even if completely predictable.
