The penultimate hill stage and the one with the longer climbs. Tiernan-Locke looked strong on the uphill finish, today a downhill finish after the last climb, hence a combination of good puncheur and fast finisher is favoured. Riders such as Yates or "sprinters" Geschke/Bole surely on the list of riders to watch for. Bonus seconds can decide this race as gaps are small.

Only 2 in the breakaway and no real KoM danger.

To make it short. Both scored 18 KoM points and were caught with still 43km to go. Hence they move into shared 4th spot in that ranking.

New Balance, WCC and CycleYorkshire with the main work.

Going up that final hill of ~4km length. CycleYorkshire with Woods, Richardson and Lampier now in the front with Tiernan-Locke and Yates just behind. But all riders of the top20 in a good position just in the next couple of rows.

2km to the top and the first attack. It`s by pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/spr.png Hugentobler, 11th in the GC at 1'22. Not the very biggest danger but still nothing to ignore for Tiernan-Locke. Though the riders just ahead of him are in danger to lose their spots of course.

Bole tried to follow while Michely increased the pace as his leader Favilli in 10th is the first ahead to lose the top10.

Bole though did not have the energy to follow him. Instead he is now passed by pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/wcc_col.png Rodriguez Galindo.

Then Bole, Yates, Geschke, Tiernan-Locke, Taborre and Partridge on the left.
Weiss, Canola and Mazgec to chase for their leaders.

The top is reached and Hugentobler is having a 15s lead over Rodriguez Galindo.

Then a trio around Tiernan-Locke, Yates and Geschke another 11s later and having a 16s gap to the remaining group of just 26 riders now.

Struggling at the very end of this group now is pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/fnz.png Gunman. The prologue specialist has shown an impressiv performance so far but today feels the efforts and also Tennant as 14th is a bit behind him.

The descent did see the top5 over the top fusion while also pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/esc.png Partridge is with them. As one of the better descenders here he clearly used this to jump from the later group into the top rider group here. Huge move. 39th in the GC only but today a chance to either win the stage or to improve his GC.

They have 52s to the group of 19 around Favilli, Bole, Taborre, Hategeka etc.

Then another 45s six riders around Gunman. Good for him that his team mate Bayly is with him chasing. Also Milan, Montagui, Backaert and Agnoli in that dropped group.

Tennant alongside Lejman and others another 30s behind.

3 riders mainly chasing in the 2nd group.
Michely for Favilli, Weiss for Kinney and a very strong Mezgec today for Bole.

Obviously a questionmark how much energy the Isostar sprinter is spending today, which he could use for the upcoming two sprinter stages. That said the GC position by Bole is their main priority here.

Hugentobler clearly strongest today and while he is doing the main work in that group of 6, the gap is still widening. 1min now with 1,6km to go.

Geschke being the best sprinter in that group and sits in the perfect place as 3rd. Yates in 5th position just a bit slower than him.

The others normally shouldn`t match those two sprints but Hugentobler and Rodriguez Galindo might play out their position here. Really a fight for bonus seconds a lot more than for the stage win.

Hugntobler still in the lead while Geschke is up to him. Yates and Tiernan-Locke then side by side a bit behind while Galindo is fading and also Partridge won`t get anything more than the time gaps.

Win for Geschke and 20 bonus seconds!

Hugentobler gave him a huge challenge though until the line. After all his chasing and then sprint from the unloved first position he still gets 2nd ahead of Yates! Tiernan-Locke without any bonus seconds and hence Geschke moves past him in the lead by 2s!
Yates in 3rd at +17s.

And as the gap to the next is up to 1'26 also Galindo and Hugentobler are in the GC top5 now.

Nardin wins the sprint ahead of Kinney and Michely with Mezgec being a surprising 10th today.
GC wise Kinney ahead of Bole just outside the top5.

2'11 for the group around Gunman, which sees him dropping to 11th in the GC. Still a solid result but surely an unlucky one as they didn`t make contact again to the others.

Tennant at 3'14 also fought until the end but dropps to 25th.
