213km on 8 laps of a hilly circuit here in Russia, with an uphill finish at the end of it. No Dowsett here so pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kmm.png Klemme is the big favourite, but anything can happen on the day.

Two riders escape on the first climb of the day and are allowed to quickly build a gap - pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tvm.png Schinker and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/elt_chn.png Ma. Neither present too much of a worry to the peloton, and so they would be allowed a peak advantage of 6 minutes with 105km and 4 circuits remaining.

Literally nothing else happens from then until the final circuit is completed with 26km to go and the break is almost caught. From here on all that remains is a descent and then the final climb, with no one chancing their arm on the climb here.

A strong move then, and one that Kraftwerk and MOL seemed keen to bring back - but the trio reach the foot of the final climb with 5.5km to go with 12 seconds of advantage!

However that advantage would disappear almost immediately, and with 5km to go it’s all back together - with 154 riders still in the peloton, very disappointing when looking at the parcours for today.
