Tour of Britain - Stage 7
roturn
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0001.jpg

Final hill stage and also last chance maybe to change the GC as tomorrows finisher is flat for the sprinters.
Multiple passing of the Box Hill which starts very steep and then getting a bit flatter on top.
Kinoshita is sitting safe in the top spot but one bad day and he might lose it. Then lots of close decisions today.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0003.jpg

7 in the break and some of them quite popular riders or underperformers here:

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/nns.png Bernas
pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/frs.png Mandri

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/sva.png Einsle
pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kch.png Santambrogio
pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hgb.png Landa

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0016.jpg

Early on a mix of Meiji and Generali riders. Later Karcher and Banc of Ireland joined them at the front of the peloton.

75km to go, the first Box Hill passing just took place and 3min gap.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0020.jpg

4th of 7 climbs done and the race seems to start now. The pace in the peloton clearly got higher and while the descent will bring that group back together, you see, which rider was concentrated enough as some GC riders did follow a short Meiji team acceleration.

With Kinoshita and his team mates are Ulissi, Froome and McCarthy only but as said, Karcher is bringing the two groups together on the descent.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0027.jpg

Next lap and this time it`s Ulissi himself chasing. He has no solid team mates with him and this might become the problem here as he is already chasing a lot of times himself.

Again a split. This time a bigger one as more riders were expecting something.

Kinoshita, Froome, McCarthy again in the top rows.
This time also Anuar Aziz, Bystrom, Costa, Paulinho, Vogt and several of their team mates in there.

Behind a mix of Ayubowan, UBS, La Poste and Strava working as their leaders missed out. Also LLS or Hugenhaben in the later group and yet again a fusion after the descent as UBS did extraordinarily well behind.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0040.jpg

Still before the penultimate climb starts an attack. It`s pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/afr.png Ben Nasser, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kar.png Vogt and also pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/lpu.png Waeytens seconds later. None of those three is a real threat here but they might still hope to improve into the top10 area.

Ulissi btw. still chasing! Teams with more team mates have a calm day at the moment.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0047.jpg

This was expected for some time now. Finally the pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/gen.png Ulissi attack after all his effort before. He is passing Vogt quickly, while the other two are still a bit ahead. Then also the break is down to 70s.

Unfortunately for him though the peloton chased him down again.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0053.jpg

But before the top the next attack. It`s lots of 2nd tier riders again.
pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/boi.png Lavery
pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/ubs.png Reichenbach
pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/vtb.png Zardini
pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/yas.png Tiernan-Locke
pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/ayu.png Bellis
pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/vdc.png Zeits

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0060.jpg

But yet again pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kar.png Vogt and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/gen.png Ulissi with a move. This time getting a bigger gap.

Behind them pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/ioc.png van der Hugenhaben and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/alm.png Froome follow putting big pressure on pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/mei.png Kinoshita.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0063.jpg

But the Japanese immediately reacts and behind him pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hgb.png Costa.

Bystrom and Gilbert immediately try to pace up the peloton alongside Schumacher and Anuar Aziz.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0069.jpg

Meanwhile Waeytens has passed the breakaway, where Ben Nasser is in at the moment. Could he take a win for Lierse here?17s to the break, another 70s to the Bellis group, then 30s to Kinoshita and another 30s to the remaining peloton and just 11km to go.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0072.jpg

Is it really the day where Kinoshita struggles?
Yet again pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/gen.png Ulissi attacks and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/alm.png Froome behind him.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0075.jpg

Kinoshita himself but also with the support of some others, they chase them down yet again.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0077.jpg

They did fusion with the group around Bellis now, who actually is still 11s ahead, while also Waeytens is caught by the break again.

Behind a lot of UBS, Indosat, Vontobel and Spotify riders mainly work for their leaders to bridge that 28s gap to the other GC riders.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0078.jpg

And with 5km to go Indosat, Bystrom, Schumacher and Wyss have made it. They are back in the GC fight.

9 riders in front by 55s only. Then the peloton. Apparently the steep section is good for attacks, while the descent is bringing it together each time. So with only one climb left, it is surely a great opportunity again for an attack.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0081.jpg

3,3km to go and two riders of the breakaway with a small gap. Surprisingly not Waeytens or Ben Nasser, neither Landa or Hoogerland.

It`s Mandri and Abelouache, who prove to be strongest that late today.

Behind you already see the peloton getting up the climb as well. Can they even take it away from the break?

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0084.jpg

Surprised to see Ulissi in front? Surely not!
Behind him Froome, Hugenhaben, Kinoshita etc. as they are almost behind the 7 dropped breakaway riders. The dup having 25s only and still a bit over 2km to go!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0087.jpg

On the steepst part Ulissi and Froome quickly accelerated and another split.
With them Hugenhaben, Kinoshita, Bystrom, Wyss, Costa, McCarthy alongside lots of the former breakaway.

This means Anuar Aziz is the best placed rider as 3rd missing out. He is chasing with LLS behind. Also Gilbert, Vogt, Schumacher, Zaini etc. in group 2.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0098.jpg

The acceleration though didn`t hurt the duo in front. Apparently they saved enough energy to remain in front and now under the Flamme Rouge it looks safe for them with Mandri in the first position.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0100.jpg

But it`s Abelouache passing him in a sprint of two to take the stage. What a month for him after he alrady won a stage in the Herald Sun Tour last week.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0102.jpg

Behind no changes. The split remained and the flat part on top didn`t allow more attacks. so a sprint for the last bonus seconds and Hugenhaben takes it ahead of a strong Wyss today and Ulissi, who maybe was the strongest here but a pity for him to not be rewarded and hence might sit a bit lower in the GC as 7th as his real performance showed.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/Britain/mg2016_britain_07_PCM0104.jpg

Hoogerland after being dropped alonside LLS of the 2nd group. They lose exactly 30s to the others. With those Schumacher, Gilbert, Bilbao, Zaini, Gautier, Anuar Aziz, Vanendert while Bellis even losing another 42 alongside Vogt.

Bille another 15s but he was always going to lose time after his brilliant beginning. A bit of a pity that they didn`t manage to make a double leadership with Dowsett going for GC as well but at least they got 2 stage wins and some days in yellow and Bille is still 14th in GC actually.
