Tour of America - Stage 9

Tour of America

Stage 9/21 Concord - Mount Washington 222.5 km.

The race continues from Concord, moving north into the White Mountains passing two peaks before the finish at Mount Washington.

The stage is rather flat at the first half part, but the 2nd half start with a cat2 climb and later a cat3, before what seems to be the hardest summit finish of the race, definitely a stage that could have an immense impact on the final CG.

Three intermediate sprints, Bristol after 50.3 km, Lincoln after 111.7 km, and Conway after 169.5 km

Two KoM climbs Kancamagus Hwy after 132.2 km, 12.0 km at 4.1% (cat2) and Wildcat Mountain after 203.8 km, 5.6 km at 4.5% (cat3)

There are additional 20,14,12,10,8,6,5,4,3,2,1 KoM points at the finish on, Mount Washington 13.4 km at 10.2%.

In 2015 the stage was won by Thomas Lövkvist, him and his team is not here this year.
It is sunny with very little wind.

A rather slim breakaway this morning of only two riders, it is pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/cpl.png Pakthusov and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/esc.png Montaguti.

Considering a break this size should not pose any threat, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/afr.png Telkom for Africa is setting a rather high pace in front of the peloton.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PCT/TOAmerica/Stage9/1.jpg

When the break get to the first intermediate sprint in Bristol they got only 1’50.

Without any fight pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/esc.png Montaguti passes first.

From the peloton pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/fnz.png Giacoppo takes the last 2 point in front of pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/spw.png Selig

From the peloton pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/spw.png Selig takes the 2 points

In the peloton pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/afr.png Stetina with pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/afr.png Augustyn on wheel, passes over first.

On the descent there is a crash, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/vuk.png Ulanowski and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/esc.png Benfatto are down, but can continue.

The breakaway just barely manages to get to the final intermediate sprint before the peloton, they got just 12”, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/esc.png Montaguti passes first. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/wcc.png Jones takes the last 2 points.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/afr.png Telkom for Africa is leading up the climb to Wildcat Mountain in a long line, nobody is attempting anything here.

The KoM point go to pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/afr.png Stetina, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/afr.png Russom and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/afr.png Ratiy.
