Tour of America

Stage 5/21 Saugerties - Glade Hill 151.3 km

The Tour have moved just 20 km North to Saugerties, a town in Ulster County, New York by the Hudson river, from here heading west and later south into Catskill Mountains passing over a series of climbs before the finish at Glade Hill.

This will be a very different race to what we have seen before, not a true mountain stage but very close.

The first climb to Devil’s Kitchen is hard and also the final climb to Glade Hill very steep, although not that long. A completely new GC will without any doubt be found here.

We got one intermediate sprints, in Boiceville after 119,3 km

KoM climbs:
Devil’s Kitchen after 14.3 km, 3.5 km at 10,5% (cat2)
Cairo Round Top after 46.2 km, (cat 4)
Mount Zoar after 67.9 km, 7.2 km at 4.5% (cat3)
Cave Mountain after 76.7 km (cat4)
Hunter Mountain after 92.0 km (cat4)
Breath Hill after 130 km, 2.4 km at 8,4% (cat3)
There are additional KoM points at the finish 10,8,6,4,2 points, Glade Hill 3.2 km at 11.2%

In 2015 the stage was won by Edoardo Zardini, not here this time.
The weather is fine, few clouds with a gentle breeze.

List of stage favorites:
