Deutschland Tour

Stage 2/8 Rostock - Kyritz 192.5 km

The Tour has moved about 300 km west to Rostock, a port city in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern by the Baltic Sea, today heading for Kyritz in Bundesland Brandenburg.

Again the route contains two intermediate sprints, one in Schwerin after about 80 km and one in Pritzwalk 32 km before the finish. We also have the first KoM sprint Ruhner Berg (cat. 4) with about 60 km to the finish line.

It is sunny, head/side wind at 4-8 km/h, nothing to worry about.

List of stage favorites:

With the start banner still in sight, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/gzl.png Terpstra launches an attack, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/bpv.png Van Keirsbulck and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hgb.png Barbero counter.

The peloton does not react, the sprinter teams lead, but with a very slow pace around 35-37 km/h, when the breakaway reach the first sprint the distance is more than 7 minutes.

With 3 km to the top of Ruhner Berg pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hgb.png Barbero makes a long hard attack, trying to shake the others of, but he fails and burn out before the top. Instead it is pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/bpv.png Van Keirsbulck winning the sprint and overnight KoM lead.
The distance to the peloton is 3’50
