Tour de France - Stage 3
roturn
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PT/TdF/mg2016_tdf_03_PCM0098.jpg

Day 2 for the sprinters and yesterdays result not really giving us answers what to expect today!
Mohs was taking the stage but actually kind of leadout Degenkolb. Will be interesting what they do today. Surely they won`t surprise the others that easily again.

Then Swift and Bewley both failed to reach the podium yesterday. They need to do better really but others such as Ciolek, Vantomme, Goss, Boeckmans surely will try to be up there once again, while some have room to improve surely such as Kristoff or Guardini.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PT/TdF/mg2016_tdf_03_PCM0099.jpg

Vassdall can already celebrate a bit as there are no KoM points today and hence he will keep the Polka Dot for another day. Still he presents it in the break of the day. Not every day you get the opportunity to do so.
Still plenty of riders think, it`s a good idea to attack here for some reason. Not the best stage surely to expect a break coming through.

Afterwards a big shuffle. The crash victims slowly came back to the peloton and the big breakaway was caught as well. The sprinter teams decided to control less riders only and hence a duo of
pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tsa.png Vorobev
pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/nns.png Bernas
is only allowed to go.
Zmorka being in GC range as well surely not helped them.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PT/TdF/mg2016_tdf_03_PCM0123.jpg

The 3rd spot still gives 2 points and 2 bonus seconds today! And while Vorobev takes it ahead of Bernas the peloton sprint is a lot more interesting.

Several sprinters participated here and it was really close as well! Bewley or Swift? The Becherovka rider was in front according the the race judges and takes it.
Vantomme, Degenkolb, Boeckmans, Guardini and Goss all behind, who also showed interest.

With ~60km to go the first stronger riders such as Boom or Gallego Martin replaced the early workers. And with ~25km also Keizer, König helped out. In general it must be said that Becherovka and Aegon with 3 riders each did the main effort today while Pokerstars took it a bit more relaxed with one rider only. They have got their win, so everything fine with that.

For the duo though this pace was too high and they are caught at the 8km mark.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PT/TdF/mg2016_tdf_03_PCM0135.jpg

Same teams with sprint trains today. And with 3km to go they are side by side.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/akm.png Kristoff

Boeckmans might have the best wheel but disturbing the Pokerstars surely, while Guardini and Ciolek are well placed as well.
Chen surprisingly in a great position but missing the max speed normally.

Further behind several sprinters still try to find the position they want while Vesely is missing in the Becherovka train and Kristoff once again showing his awful positioning skills.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PT/TdF/mg2016_tdf_03_PCM0146.jpg

Today Mohs clearly leading out Degenkolb. They are behind one of Bewley`s helper with 1700m to go.
Then it`s Sbaragli behind and Boeckmans.
Swift sitting next, so the Aegon train did not work and instead they mix it up behind Pokerstars, while Bewley is a bit blocked behind Van der Sanden and Gough.

Guardini and Ciolek still on the right side with Chen, Vantomme, Goss behind the long train on the left.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PT/TdF/mg2016_tdf_03_PCM0151.jpg

1,1km and this time Degenkolb keeps contact with Mohs! Perfect leadout so far.
Sbaragli also doing well for Swift even though Boeckmans is still in between them.
Then it`s Guardini and Ciolek who need to go the long sprint while it`s not Bewley up there! It`s Vesely after coming fast forward spending lots of his energy and Bewley, who was supposed to follow is a bit behind due to the blocking.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PT/TdF/mg2016_tdf_03_PCM0157.jpg

700m and Mohs has done his job. It`s Degenkolb passing him now and same is soon happening by Guardini.

Swift starts his sprint late not going around Sbaragli yet with Boeckmans and Ciolek still in the mix. All others with a bit of a gap still.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PT/TdF/mg2016_tdf_03_PCM0160.jpg

400m and Degenkolb with a bike length gap ahead of Swift, who comes fast though.
Guardini struggling with Ciolek still in his slipstream.

Then it`s Vantomme and finally Bewley, who found contact to them while all leadout riders go backwards. Same goes for Boeckmans surprisingly who is almost passed by Goss and Maksimov here.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PT/TdF/mg2016_tdf_03_PCM0162.jpg

200m and Degenkolb seems to have gone too early! He can`t go any faster and must watch Swift passing him here.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PT/TdF/mg2016_tdf_03_PCM0164.jpg

And the Brit takes yet another Tour de France stage. The first in 2016 and the team`s first ever actually!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PT/TdF/mg2016_tdf_03_PCM0165.jpg

Degenkolb still 2nd ahead of Bewley, who shows that he is one of the best sprinters. Today the positioning didn`t really work and shows how important Vesely is in their sprint train!

Vantomme in 4th ahead of Guardini and Ciolek. Smart blocking there by the Italian in the end securing him staying ahead of the Puma rider.

Mohs in 7th with more points ahead of Goss, Maksimov and Boeckmans. He still is losing the point jersey to Swift though.

Kristoff in 17th with yet another shit sprint!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/PT/TdF/mg2016_tdf_03_PCM0167.jpg

Then quite a shock. After the 61st rider a gap opened and all the riders behind are losing 1'44 today!
The biggest name in there is clearly pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/ora.png Sicard.
Others are Kolesnikov, Kruisjwijk, Vasylic, Arndt, Barguil, Kunshin, Kirsch, Aru, Pantano, Suaza, Ponzi or Ignatiev.

Late but also in that group Kennaugh and Siutsou finish as last riders. Both seem to be handicaped a bit. First after his earlier crash while Siutsou did crash alone a bit later.
