Tour de Langkawi - Stage 7
Selwink
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/P7.jpg

After yesterday the breakaway took a win due to a failure of the pack, we have another flat stage ahead of us where possibly the same scenario awaits. Will the pack do what it needs to do on this stage?

7 riders form the break of today's stage:
pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/esc.png Doull (115th @39'56), pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/frs.png Zemlyakov (99th @33'19), pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tvm.png Bauhaus (113th @38'39), pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/vdc.png Podlaski (39th @19'48), pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Kossouhorou (110th @38'09),
pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/mop.png Manakov (109th @36'53) and again pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/spb.png Anton Cooper (46th @21'44). They would build up a maximum lead of 5 minutes.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/7-1.jpg

Sprints and KoM uncontested again.

Sprint #1ZemlyakovKossouhorouManakov
KoM #1ZemlyakovKossouhorouPodlaski
Sprint #2PodlaskiManakovCooper
Sprint #3BauhausZemlyakovKossouhorou

With 20km to go the break has 1m27 left. Things could get close again in the end, even though Kraftwerk is now sharing in the work.
15km, 1m24. This seems like a copy of yesterday.

With 10km to go the lead is at 1m21. A breakaway win seems to be imminent again.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/7-2.jpg

Drama in the pack! A crash takes down a few riders. It's the end of the race for pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kmm.png Vachon, but pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/vdc.png Nieve and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/esc.png Lewis, nr 4 and 5 in the GC, can also be found on the ground. They are both awaited by a large mass of team mates.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/7-3.jpg

Up front it's still a battle for the stage win. With 5km to go and a 1m04 lead for the break, Bauhaus attacks!
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/7-4.jpg

Seeing that Bauhaus is still ahead with 3.5km to go, Manakov and Kossouhorou also attack. The rest of the group doesn't seem to be able to follow.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/7-5.jpg

Manakov drops Kossouhorou and is now reaching Bauhaus, it seems like one of these two will win the stage.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/7-6.jpg

Hankook builds the strongest train today. Maikin and Stauff are coming through on the right. However, once again they're too late.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/7-7.jpg

With 1km to go Bauhaus has launched, but Manakov is on his wheel. Bauhaus is normally the better sprinter, so the question is if Manakov has the power to pass the young German.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/7-8.jpg

Bauhaus collapses, and Manakov goes past him with 500m to go. Stage win seems inevitable for him.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/7-9.jpg

And so Manakov wins stage 7 of the Tour de Langkawi, ahead of Bauhaus!
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/7-10.jpg

Podlaski narrowly beats Doull for the final podium spot. Kossouhorou, Cooper and Zemlyakov take positions 5-7.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/7-11.jpg

And that's only just, as Gavazzi comes in 8th as first of the sprinters, ahead of Kip and Jones.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/7-12.jpg

Nieve and Lewis come in far behind the others, and both lose their strong GC classification, dropping out of the top-10.
