Tour de Langkawi - Stage 1

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/P1.jpg

Time for the prologue of the Tour de Langkawi. Normally pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/cdb.png Steensen, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/elt_chn.png Ma and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Scully are favourites to win here, but with this length and the unpredictability of time trials this season anything really could happen here.

The first outsider to start today is pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/elt.png Sakellaridis. Unsurprisingly, he sets a new best time. 2'42'' is 2 seconds faster than Zhao and Venturini, who shared the lead up to now.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/1-1.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tvm.png Vingerling is another outsider to set off early today. He sets a very strong time of 2'39'', which is obviously the new top time so far.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/1-2.jpg

Even though Sakellaridis didn't hold on to his best time, Elta still has another candidate for the win. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/elt_chn.png Ma sets a time of 2'39'', but it turns out to be a bit slower than Vingerling. Surely he won't be happy.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/1-3.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/vdc.png Rijntjes is the next outsider to set off. Impressively, he manages to match the time of Vingerling and Ma, provisionally squeezing himself between them.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/1-4.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kch.png Reijnen had a very strong start. He manages to maintain his pace, and sets, indeed, 2'39''. Provisionally he is the fastest though.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/1-5.jpg

Next up is another one of the top favourites, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/cdb.png Steensen. He sets the new benchmark at 2'38'' and takes the lead! It'll be interesting to see who can still beat this.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/1-6.jpg

We now have to wait a long time for a new contender to come by. Very long in fact. Only rider who has shown some danger is pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/mop.png Krasnov, who has a provisional third time.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tvm.png Kip can be considered the next outsider really, and he doesn't perform badly at all. He loses 1 second, just like many others today.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/1-7.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/cdb.png Rasmussen also sets off strongly but also ends a second down on his teammate who is still in the hotseat.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/1-8.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Scully is however one more favourite to set off, as the penultimate rider. However, even he can not break the 1 second curse.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/1-9.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kmm.png Stauff is the final rider to start today, and he has a strong prologue. He shows this by doing... 2'38''.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Langkawi/1-10.jpg

In the end, he lacks a few tenths of a second though, so victory goes to pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/cdb.png Carlsberg - Danske Bank and Steensen. Young rider is for pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/wcc.png Contreras.
