Next puncheur stage and while the finish seems to be a bit easier, the hills on the route are longer than yesterday. Hence it gives better opportunity to attack.

Early on a lot of attacks but as also Haugard and Adriamihajanarivo tried to join to fight for the KoM jersey, the peloton caught all of them.

In the end only 2 riders were allowed to go and it`s two of yesterdays teams actually.

Both decent puncheurs and in the 20s group.

First easily takes all the KoM of the day and is going to wear the shirt tomorrow. Debesay tried to keep it in the team but wasn`t able to do so.

While La Poste has the jersey, the main chasing comes from Generali and Arrinera. Only at times UBS and La Poste chase with one rider.

With 18km to go Stachowiak seems to be exhausted after all his KoM attacks. Debesay plays this very smart and after saving the energy he goes solo. 25s to his former companion and another 40s to the peloton.

13km to go and here the steepest climb waits for the riders and also the best to attack!

Costa, Ulissi with a small gap right behind him.
Dowsett, Ben Nasser, Di Maggio, Roux, Bystrom, Barbin, Craven all with small gaps in between also try to follow.

At the KoM Debesay is caught by Roche. The next not far behind though.

Last KoM and Roche has gapped Debesay, who dropped back to the next group, where Dowsett and Ben Nasser joined Ulissi/Costa.

Might be too late but at least Schumacher and Bilbao decide to leave the peloton.
Netia in there without a real GC rider is chasing hard. Might be for Panayotov, who has a solid GC due to yesterdays effort.

With 5km to go Roche has a 45s gap! Huge ride.
Behind though 9 riders together now as the main contenders merged and also Debesay still there.

A bit behind Craven solo ahead of Schumacher and Bilbao.

The gap drops a bit but still 37s.
Meanwhile Debesay also dropped and couldn`t be of big help for Craven as he was far too slow.

Roche takes the win. His attack was perfectly timed and too strong for anyone to follow. This will be a GC leader change then as the gap is still open.

Ben Nasser sprints to 2nd ahead of Dowsett with unknwon sprint skills. Ulissi also surprised by that and missing out.
All of them +35s which includes the later Barbin, Bystrom, Di Maggio, Roux and Costa.

Craven at +1'47 couldn`t join them but is in a solid top10.

Schumacher, Gilbert, Bilbao... the main losers today as they all come in at 2'20 being caught by the peloton again.
