Betonxpressz GP

Welcome to Hungary for a fairly flat classic

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Betonexpressz/Beton-03.png

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/vdc.png Petrache is first to attack today.
However the peloton is keeping things in an iron grip and a real break is only let go the 2nd time we pass the first hill.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Betonexpressz/Beton-04.png

The two out front are pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/mei.png Shirota and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/wcc.png Venturini.

As more riders start attacking hoping to bridge the gap on the hill pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/wcc.png Venturini ends up back in the peloton while pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/mei.png Shirota gets company from pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/vdc.png Petrache and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/vuk_cyp.png Athanasiades in stead.
Impressive how the Romanian kept on trying until he finally got hos spot in the TV break

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Betonexpressz/Beton-05.png

With 100 km to go the trio has a gap of 5'29

Despite the easy pace abd dry flat roads a few riders manage to crash in the peloton. No big names among them though.

90 km and 5'15
80 km and 4'19
70 km and 3'44
Everyone from the crash is back in the peloton.
60 km and 3'20
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Betonexpressz/Beton-06.png

It's pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/t3a.png Podium Ambition, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/chi.png Chiquita and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kmm.png Kraftwerk keeping things under control.

50 km and 2'48

40 km and 1'23 from the trio to pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hpa.png Boem, who for some reason have decided to ride solo just under half a minute ahead of the peloton for the last 7-8 km.

As pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/cdb.png Veilleux decides that pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hpa.png Boem might be up to something and decides to jump the gap the peloton is having no more of it and reels in the two optimists.
The trio now has just under a minute with 30 km to go.

More riders think a break would be fun and with 21,6 km to go only one rider isn't in the peloton and that's pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/spb.png Sue who is fighting 3'50 behind obviously hurt by his crash earlier.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/vdc.png Petrache is really in a racing mood today and gives it another go!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Betonexpressz/Beton-07.png

However with 13 km to go he is empty and things look like they're set for the expected bunch sprint.
He does deserve an award for fighter of the day though.

It's pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/t3a.png Podium Ambition sets a frantic pace oveer the small hill forcing the peloton to crack into pieces.
Riders lost behind include pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/hpa.png Uugunbayar, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/mop.png Napolitano, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/spb.png Rizza, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Scully, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/mop.png Galimzyanov, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tvm.png Vingerling, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tvm.png Kip and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/mop.png Szalontay.

With only 5 km to the finish line they are in big trouble!
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Betonexpressz/Beton-08.png

3,8 km to go and the trains are going full throttle.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/t3a.png Nelson sitting behind pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/t3a.png Ewan and with pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/chi.png Avila on his wheel looks like the one with the upper hand, though pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kmm.png Stauff's train with pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/0r8.png Clarke on the back is looking strong on the other side of the road as well.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Betonexpressz/Beton-09.png

This is pure madness!
pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/chi.png Avila can't even hang on to the traain in front of him!!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Betonexpressz/Beton-10.png

1,6 km to go

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Betonexpressz/Beton-11.png

Understandably chaos and desperation further back.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Betonexpressz/Beton-12.png

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/t3a.png Nelson doesn't even follow Ewan fooling the other riders, who had jumped to his wheel.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Betonexpressz/Beton-13.png

But the young aussie went early and finds himself side-byside with pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/kmm.png Stauff 300 m from the line.
pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/t3a.png Nelson howver looks like he was destroyed but his lead-out mans acceleration. Perhaps they should have gone in the other order today?
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Betonexpressz/Beton-14.png

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/t3a.png Podium Ambition destroyed the race but will have to make do with 2nd place today.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Betonexpressz/Beton-15.png

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/elt.png Fonseca is leads the chasers around the last turn.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/Races/CT/Betonexpressz/Beton-16.png

He just manages to get passed pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/t3a.png Soupe, but a 7th place is less than what he had imagined sprinting for!

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tvm.png Verschoor and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/mop.png King completes the top 10.
