Welcome to Hungary for a fairly flat classic
Petrache is first to attack today.
However the peloton is keeping things in an iron grip and a real break is only let go the 2nd time we pass the first hill.
The two out front are Shirota and Venturini.
As more riders start attacking hoping to bridge the gap on the hill Venturini ends up back in the peloton while Shirota gets company from Petrache and Athanasiades in stead.
Impressive how the Romanian kept on trying until he finally got hos spot in the TV break
With 100 km to go the trio has a gap of 5'29
Despite the easy pace abd dry flat roads a few riders manage to crash in the peloton. No big names among them though.
90 km and 5'15
80 km and 4'19
70 km and 3'44
Everyone from the crash is back in the peloton.
60 km and 3'20
It's Podium Ambition, Chiquita and Kraftwerk keeping things under control.
50 km and 2'48
40 km and 1'23 from the trio to Boem, who for some reason have decided to ride solo just under half a minute ahead of the peloton for the last 7-8 km.
As Veilleux decides that Boem might be up to something and decides to jump the gap the peloton is having no more of it and reels in the two optimists.
The trio now has just under a minute with 30 km to go.
More riders think a break would be fun and with 21,6 km to go only one rider isn't in the peloton and that's Sue who is fighting 3'50 behind obviously hurt by his crash earlier.
Petrache is really in a racing mood today and gives it another go!
However with 13 km to go he is empty and things look like they're set for the expected bunch sprint.
He does deserve an award for fighter of the day though.
It's Podium Ambition sets a frantic pace oveer the small hill forcing the peloton to crack into pieces.
Riders lost behind include Uugunbayar, Napolitano, Rizza, Scully, Galimzyanov, Vingerling, Kip and Szalontay.
With only 5 km to the finish line they are in big trouble!
3,8 km to go and the trains are going full throttle.
Nelson sitting behind Ewan and with Avila on his wheel looks like the one with the upper hand, though Stauff's train with Clarke on the back is looking strong on the other side of the road as well.
This is pure madness!
Avila can't even hang on to the traain in front of him!!
1,6 km to go
Understandably chaos and desperation further back.
Nelson doesn't even follow Ewan fooling the other riders, who had jumped to his wheel.
But the young aussie went early and finds himself side-byside with Stauff 300 m from the line.
Nelson howver looks like he was destroyed but his lead-out mans acceleration. Perhaps they should have gone in the other order today?
Podium Ambition destroyed the race but will have to make do with 2nd place today.
Fonseca is leads the chasers around the last turn.
He just manages to get passed Soupe, but a 7th place is less than what he had imagined sprinting for!
Verschoor and King completes the top 10.
