The Tour of Southland ends in Invercargill with a flat stage of just 88km. The sprinters will get their last chance for a win.
8 riders though hope for a breakaway success and attacked early:
Novardianto
Wynants
Herrera
Martinelli
Tusveld
Schultz
Chhetri
Karwowski
Chhetri seals the KoM jersey by also showing himself in the lead at half time on the last mountain sprint of the race. Karwowski runner-up here after winning the first sprint with Martinelli taking the later sprint.
The sprinter teams should do a bit more. 15km and 1'30 gap and we also see a split. 44 riders in the front and the bigger 73 rider group behind them.
Working behind is cycleYorkshire and Tvetcov leading himself as he is in the later group!
Popkov, Khripta, Tiernan-Locke, Kasa, Mat-Senan are other top20 riders, while Pauwels, Pozzo and Salinas even from the top10.
5km and still quite a gap. Schultz with the attack. Only Novardiento and Tusveld try to follow.
A small sprinter group of 5 riders followed trying to reach them.
Alaphilippe-Ewan-Nelson is obvious. Behind them only Von Hoff and Avila!
But with 1,6km to go Schultz still has a nice gap and the Podium Ambition riders only appear one corner behind.
Andso it`s a nice win for the Fox rider and once more the sprinters get fooled late in the race. Tusveld and Novardianto next.
Nelson only for 8th today and he surely is frustrated.
Good thing though for many teams that the slowish pace in the end delivered all dropped riders the same time and hence no big GC changes.
Only Zoidl lost another couple minutes after his injury and drops even further.
