2 flat stages and a time trial left. Today the first for the sprinters. Fonseca and Nelson so far took a stage. The others still have to wait.
7 in the break including the KoM leader Chhetri.
Sue
Koch
Mamykin
Ariesen
Passalacqua
Godoy
Chhetri takes the KoM points improving his lead in the ranking while Mamykin, Ariesen and Passalacqua share the sprints.
And while the pace in the peloton is really high as the latest splits show, the break could actually make it. It`s still 1'10 with 6km to go.
Within the dropped riders again very early Krasnoperov. Not made for the fast flat sections. Also in problems Ivanov, Khripta, Mat Senan or Pauwels. Though they fight hard to avoid a time loss today.
Ariesen in the group attacks trying to win the stage solo. Mamykin the first to follow.
The remaining riders might have waited too long and now see quite a gap already and the Flamme Rouge is coming behind the next corner.
Meanwhile confirmation that some decently placed riders are dropped behind:
Biggest name probably Kung as 13th.
The peloton stopped their chasing as it`s obvious they can`t win today. Many sprinters are disappointed in the front rows.
Meanwhile Ariesen still holding the gap to Mamykin.
And the young Dutch wins while Mamykin comes in 2nd. Both are talented and have their best time still ahead. Today was already a nice showing though!
Passalacqua as best of the rest in 3rd ahead of Godoy, Koch and Chhetri.
Then Fonseca as winner of the peloton sprint 3min later! Vingerling and Von Hoff behind him.
Though this is something that nobody wants to see. A crash that late on a stage with multiple riders. And one team is hit hugely. Bad luck for Sauber as not only Kung is going to lose time today. Their two best GC riders Mat Senan and Zoidl both lose time due to todays crash. Their team mate Maccagli even looks worse as he has to abandon.
Their loss in the end is 2'24 which sees both of them drop down to the 15-20 area only. Di Gregorio is another rider for Spark who dropped from 17th to 30th.
