It's the day of the UCI ITT World Championship. Carlos Gomez is on the exit ramp ready for starting his time trial. He desires to wear the rainbow jersey. The Spaniard starts the race...
...we're aproaching to the finish line, and Gomez, who wears the Spanish kit, is setting the pace.
Just 2 km to the end. Gomez looks impassible.
Last 500 metres! Everything looks to be set for a Gomez's win...
Carlos Gomez Nationality: Birth: 19/03/1997 Specialization: Time-trialist
PCM Version: 2015 Database: PCMdaily V1.5 (well, i almost changed it completely) Starting year: 2016 Dificulty: Hard
I think I can make this rider a mix of Tony Martin and Fabian Cancellara, i mean, make him the greatest time-trialist, with a powerful stat on hills that make him perfect por stage races as Paris-Nice, and suitable to harder time trials, not also the flat ones.
Also a decent stat on cobbles, to be able to contest all 5 monuments.

As my rider is an Spaniard, all 3 contract offers were from Spanish teams. I had to choose between Burgos-BH (Continental), Murias-Taldea (Continental) and Pro-Continental team, Caja Rural.
I signed for Caja Rural , because I think I can evolve my rider faster, and also have more chances to ride TT (Spanish continental teams usually don't ride lots of races with TT).
I have changed DB to be able to race .HC races from the beginning, so that will make me easier to race some WT race even this year.
For my first season, main objetives will be;
1- Win, at least, one race
2- Top 5 in National TT
3- Participate in a WT race (most likely, Pais Vasco)
As always, I'll make my debut on PCM Cup 1, a hilly stage in San Sebastian. As I had no chance to make it into the top10, i got into the breakaway. I was catched by the bunch just before the last climb of the day, and i was able to finish in 48th. Sonny Colbrelli (Bardiani) won in a solo-effort
PCM Cup 2 is a flat stage, suited for sprinters. As in PCM Cup 1, i got into the breakaway, just for getting more EP. I was caught with 5 km to go. Colbrelli made the double, beating my team-mate Lasca to the line
In the last of the three Cup's, i decided to stay on the bunch. It was a hilly stage, with lots of climbs, so i would go nowhere in a breakaway. Dueñas (Burgos-BH) won from the breakaway, in front of Mareczko and Battaglin
Next race will be Cadel Evans Great Ocean Race, a 1.HC, before heading to Mallorca and Andalucia, both 2.1 races
We go to Australia for racing our first non-European race. This race should be decided in a reduced sprint, or a solo-win by a puncheur with a great flat stat. Little hills in the last 20 km must be a hard test for us. My personal objetive will be to finish in the main group.
For my joy, i discover that my daily form is a +4, so i told myself: I'm gonna finish in the group anyway, so let's have some fun.
At the top of the very last hill, I attack the group. In one of this common PCM's bugs, nobody chase me, and with less than 5 km I have a 2-minute advantage. Suddenly, they decide to chase me, but it's too late.
Gomez cross the line in Geelong, and get his first ever pro win. Unbeliveable.
It's my fourth race day in my career, and already my first win.

After winning my first race in Australia, i took a 1-day flight going back to Spain. I was going to race Vuelta a Mallorca, a 4-day race. It was composed of 2 flat stage (for sprinters). a mountain stage (for the overall win), and a hilly stage. Any stage favors me, so i will try to help Barbero for a stage win.
In the first stage, on the road to Palma de Mallorca, i was mixed on the sprint, and i crossed the line in 11th place. Stage win was for a surprising Gregory Rast, in front of Bryan Coquard. Coquard won stage 2 before heading to the decisive stage.
With my current MON stat (57) my target would be to stay in the group as long as i can. During the second to last climb, i was dropped of the group. In the final climb, i was able to stay in a group which featured Sep Vanmarcke. After climb's summit, there was more than 15 km to go. Vanmarcke and I had a great fight, pursuing each other all the way to the finish. Nibali destroyed the field, and took the win in front of Konig and Contador.
On last stage I didn't have good legs, so i was dropped very early. Surprisingly, Luis Leon Sanchez beat Coquard in the sprint. GC was won by Nibali, in front of Konig, Contador and Barguil, who won the youth's. I ended in 72th, being 9th in the under-25
After a two-week rest, i went to Andalucia. There i would ride my first TT, a 6 km prologue in Almeria's streets. I only managed to finish 33th, 16 seconds slower than Jack Bauer .After two hilly stage, won by Henao and Nibali, i was also to enter into the breakaway in the 4th stage, ending in Sevilla. Greipel sprinted out Bennett for the win. Alaphilippe won stage 5, also taking the lead. Greipel took his second stage win in the final stage. Julian Alaphilippe won the overall, in front of Nibali and Henao. I was able to finish in 71th
In the next month, it was scheduled to i would race Tour de Taiwan and Criterium International, before making my World Tour debut in Vuelta al Pais Vasco

While biggest stars races in Paris-Nice or Tirreno-Adriatico, I will race in Taiwan. 5 days with flat, hilly and mountain stages that will help me to build my shape for the upcoming races, like Criterium International and Vuelta al Pais Vasco.
The first stage was a flat one, and i was able to finish safely in the bunch. Next stage ended in a 7 km-hill with 16% slopes. After a sprint stage, terrible climb to Tataka was awaiting us. A 65 km climb, which covers more than the half of total stage's lenght (IMO, first 20 km should not be included in the climb, making it a 40-km climb with a 6% average, but whoever made this stage decided that).
Last stage was a flat one, in the way to Tainan City. I got into the breakaway, with another 10 rider, and we were able to hold on the peloton, and fight for the stage win. I tried to attack them, but with my very low stats on SPR and ACE (both less than 58), it was impossible to open a gap. Finally, I ended last of the group, in 11th place, with Ershov (Rusvelo) winning the stage. Overall went to Jacques Janse van Rensburg (MTN-Qhubeka). I was down on 68th.
Just one day after arriving home, I injured my ankle in a training crash. The doctor advised: out of competition until late march, which compromised my participation in Criterium International.
After talking with team's doctor, we decided that i should not race Criterium International for a better recovery of my injured ankle. I will focus on Vuelta al Pais Vasco, with one more week to recover. After that, I will travel to Japan, to ride Tour of Japan (2.HC), a 7-day stage race
