Hey, I'm going to be at the last stage of the Tour de Georgia tomorrow, I've never been to a pro race before and I need some tips.

just leave as early as possible or all good parking spots and watching spots will be used allready by someone else.
I went to the TDF when it came to valkenburg one or two years ago and we were lucky to be taken from some farm, where we had to park, to the race by bus. but when we arrived, we couldnt get any closer to the finish then the 3km mark... |

You want to be there at least an hour before the finish

I dont know how many people go to the tour of georgia but I'd say 3 at least if you want to be in the final meters. |

park your car not to close to the race either. there is a big risk on damage.
prevent hangovers --> stay drunk

Well, if it's anywhere near you place (within 10 km) you can always take your bicycle instead of spending 30 minutes in a car to find a parking spot. I'd think that's the best thing to do |

Thanks for the tips guys, I ended up on the first five laps about 20 meters from the line, on a statue type thing. It was good, then this security guard told me to get off, so i stayed on it for a while longer till he came by again and threatened to arrest me
The next 4 laps i looked for a spot untill with 5 min left in the race, i managed to work my way to the front of the barricades, basically on the line!
It was cool watching Haedo and Henderson battle it out, Haedo had a great leadout but ended up getting passed in the last feet by Henderson, it was so cool.
And about pics, it was supposed to rain so i decided to leave the Cannon at home, I got a few pics from my iPhone though, so i might put those up.
thanks everyone!

If I have the day off from work on Sunday, I may go down to the U.S. Air Force Cycling Classic in Arlington, Virgina. Too bad they didn't get any good teams this year though. |
