Is it possible to use variants from 2015 in PCM 2016?

In PCM 2016 you can only use stages which have been made with the stage editor of PCM 2016 or PCM 2015.
So if you plan to install the variant pack for PCM 2015 you would have to test each stage if it is compatible.
