Hi guys, has anyone noticed something funny about the mountains in pcm 2016? I mean i'm currently playing in career mode and Ulissi (78 mountain) just finished second in the giro behind Niballi and now Sagan (72 mountain) is winning high mountain stages with sprint finishes in the tour not going in to the break while my riders with 77 mountain can't follow the pace. However both Sagan and Ulissi have great hill stats. Did the Hill stat just became the Mountain stat or anything like that? |

Sagan was even considered the favourite for the stage and I was really shocked with that |

There is a thread here about it. Mountains are for climbing below 70 effort. Over 70 effort mountain stat start to become less effective. Instead Hill stat becomes more prominent the higher the pace and effort is.
You can say that Mountain stat is for slower climbing while Hill stat is for fast climbing. That means that for late stage climbing you usually need high Hill stat in order to do well. |

Yes I already know that the problem is that my rider (Igor Anton with 77 mountain and 79 hill) don't make it to the final of the climb while Sagan does xD Could it be because of his excelent resistance? My rider just blow up if i try to follow the pace and he has only one less in the hill stat than Sagan so that must not be the problem |

What difficulty are you playing on? The AI gets hidden stat modifiers, depending on the difficulty you use.
But to be plain, game mechanics are much worse than last year's game. I got P.Sagan competing for high mountain stages in Paris-Nice, Criterium du Dauphine and I.Izaguirre winning 7 mountain stages in the Vuelta a Espana.
Granted, this behavior can be somewhat 'fix' through better distribution of rider attributes via custom databases. However, current core game mechanics do seem flawed. |

Thats just stupid, why did they do that? The old system made much more sense where it used hill if it wasn't too steep and mountain if it was over a certain percentage.
Finding this out made me kinda pi..ed off. Barely want to play the game anymore.
Also about the difficulty bonuses, are they still open in a editable file or have they hardcoded them now? |

I am playing on extreme but that's not the problem because ok the other riders become better than mine I already knew that from previous years but Peter Sagan is allways finishing on the top 20 of high mountain stages ahead of guys like Jakob Fuglsang (80 mountain stat) and he is on other team so he must have better stats as well as Sagan |

I've only played a few stages so far, but on Mont Ventoux, it finished with about 40 riders still in the peleton and no one sprinted for the line. |

Seems like the game is utter shit.
Why can't they just fix the existing bugs instead of creating numerous new bugs and crushing features that worked good in the past?
Who tests this game?
I'm definitely not buying it this year. |

The system hasn't changed since PCM2013. The MT/HIL ratio is set by the stage creator, and that function is basically a "composite stat" based on X amount from Mountain + Y amount from Hill. boork a moron.
As for difficulty, Local.cdb is stiff editable.

Why not make a mountain hill ratio depending on the lenght of the climb instead?
F.e. the first 5km of climb the game calculated like the plain/hill ratio.
Procentual decline with each km until 5km in the climb.
0-1km 100-80% hill stat 0-20% mountain stat
1-2km 60-80% hill 20-40% mountain
and so on until 5km where only the MO stat counts
maybe exponential would be even better than lineal.
The only difference between hill and mountain for me is the lenght of the climb.

I have not experienced any weird results on stages to be honest, everything seems like it works like it should.

Agreed in mountains and mostly on hills..
Normally it's only the favourites racing for it in the end on big tour stages for example.
What doesn't seem to work as intended, imo, is that exceptional MO-stat riders seemingly do well at a number of things. In flat sprints, it's not uncomming that climbers we know as GC riders IRL, finish in the top 10-15 riders. A bunch of them. And TTRs it's only the REALLY big experts who seemingly beat for example Quintana consistently. |
