After a few years not playing PCM, I recently discovered the pro cyclist mode.
After reading this forum, I still need some tips on building a rider. ( a GC rider )
- levelling up is mostly earned when winning races/jerseys/etc.?
- you build up fitness when riding races, training makes you tired?
- how do you level up fast with a gc rider? Because winning races is hard
- you can't choose the points you gain when levelling up, but can choose your training regime?
- how do you generally manage this kind of racer?
levelling is based on time. Some in-race achievements are bonus and you can only get them once for continental and once for ProTour races.
Rider development is way to fast already, don't worry if you don't get all rhe bonus in the first season. You will be a beast after 3 seasons anyway.
It does not matter much what training regime you select because you cannot become a sprinter or cobbled rider if you start as a gc rider. But maybe you should focus on hills first if it is low.
Fitness is gained during races and when training hard (intensity 3 and higher) and both will raise tiredness. But you can use lower training intensity (0-2) to relax and it will lower the tiredness after a while.
First you should follow the orders of your team and your captain. After a few seasons other team members will support you.
Too bad you can't allocate some skill points because being a good climber automatically makes you terrible at sprinting. I don't want to be a Cavendish but Valverde isn't exactly slow either.
I guess I should race more and train a bit less. Can you keep your fitness level above 'good' a whole season? Or do you have take periods of rest like real racers? Like building up for Paris-Nice, resting and then building up for the Tour?
If you don't race too many (long) races you should be able to keep the training intensity at 3 for the whole season. Doing so will increase the fitness slowly over the season. But at the end of the season you might exceed the tiredness threshold of 25. If you ride ProTour races you should consider resting.
If you want to be a special rider like Valverde (or Sagan) you have to edit the potential of the sprinting (and climbing) stat using an editor.
Smoak, while it's boring, the fastest progression the first season is to find a team with a limited calendar, remove nearly all races and train on 5 intensity. Tiredness doesn't affect training, so it's lots and lots and lots of exp.
You don't gain a lot by racing, apart from of course riding races which is sort of what the game is about.
