On the time trial, the US guys were the top favourites, and it will be the same for the road race. Holloway, Farrar, Young, King… That's a real sprint armada. Other countries will still have a chance with their sprinters :
Granjel
Boivin
Castañeda
Manarelli

and other less known outsiders.

As always, the battle for breakaway is long and difficult. And it's a solo man who will open the road today : Pulido.

The peloton enters Doha with a delay of 5 minutes and 45 seconds on Pulido. The pack doesn't panic, it's an easy guy to control.

The pressure is going up...and 3 guys are down : Nodarse, Garces and Cortes. The peloton then start pacing hard, they won't come back easily. 100 km, 6'25''.

Like Lagab on the African race, 2 guys are willing to attack at 45 kilometers of the finish line : Gomez and Bridges.

That was all the peloton asked to come back on Pulido. The peloton is now nearly complete, with only Nuñez dropped for the moment. 35 kilometers left.

The peloton just kept on losing riders, exhausted due to the wind, until the 5 kilometers arch. Only 25 riders left, as we can consider Manarelli dropped now.

Out of power, Houle is pacing down under the last kilometer arch. Holloway is still is the canadian wheel. Boivin and Monsalve are coming fast on the left side of the road.

A probably too confident Holloway sees Granjel making his effort with less than 600 meters left !

Granjel is struggling to reach the finish line, while Holloway is coming back, full of energy ! With Castañeda and Richeze exhausted, that should be a 3th place for the canadian Boivin. 200 meters.

And it's a win for Dan Holloway ! The american had more power than Raúl Granjel in the last meters, and he keeps the trophy in the US, after Phinney's win last year.
Guillaume Boivin indeed comes third, ahead of Maximiliano Richeze and an other american, Taylor Tolleson.
