The TT is expected to be a close fight. Best on paper are Coppel and Fiedler. Though we have seen in past, how the daily form can impact those fights for seconds as also the wind on the stage will make it even more unpredictable as direction and speed is changing every few minutes.
Swiss veteran Cancellara being early on the course, which did not happen a lot in past but he is no longer their best time trialist!
His experience though is still the greatest and he takes almost the lead!
Almost? Yes Spaniard Justo Tenorio is faster by 11s and also Dutch Robert Gesink can`t beat that being 27s behind already! Even more for Sterobo, Tennant or Viviani.
Haugard is coming close, only 9s to Tenorio at the first check. Meanwhile offside the camera Marcel Kittel in 2.
So who is Switzland`s new top time trialist?
Silvan Dillier is the answer and by going into 3rd with +6s he is proving his skills.
While Ignatiev only is 8th at this early check, it`s a big attack by Keizer. He beats Kittel for 2nd but still 2s slower than Tenorio.
Then moments of bad luck with wind and Vlatos, Taaramae and Cornu all impacted the most losing the race early!
Zmorka next and it`s better again and the rather unknown winner of last years Chrono Herniers is taking the lead! 1s faster than the Spaniard and it shows how cruel the wind conditions here can be seeing the 3 starters ahead of him.
Big engine by Fiedler! One of the top favourites smashes the earlier times taking the lead by 9s!
And while being closest, Coppel is not as fast. 3s slower in 2nd!
Fiedler keeps the best time also on the 2nd split. He even extends it to 7s ahead of Coppel!
Tenorio only 1s slower than the French, while Zmorka at +18, Kittel +21 and Keizer +24 need a huge 3rd part to attack the podium.
Meanwhile the Swiss duel turned as Cancellara is not 5s faster than Dilier. 7. and 8. for them.
Let`s see to the finish line. Tenorio was fast in this final part! He improved with the route showing how to save energy during a time trial.
Zmorka not beating him after being 1s faster at the first check. This turned into +18s in the finish despite passing Cornu on the line!
Kittel in 3rd at the moment, same time as the Ukrainian, while Cancellara beats Keizer in the end. Same as Tenorio the Swiss veteran knew how to handle his energy best. Dillier in 6th ahead of Haugard, Stannard, Vlatos and Kreuziger right now.
Though Fiedler once again takes the best time even though losing 1s to Tenorio in the last part.
Only Coppel can change it but no chance. Fiedler takes the win here and actually Tenorio`s late push moves him ahead of the French. +8s to Fiedler, which means +1s to Tenorio, who takes silver.
