There's less kilometers than last year for the African Championships, but big gusts of wind all over Doha. A lot of specialists are taking part to this event, with Janse Van Rensburg and Hussein as the top favourites.

Ahmouda sets the first interesting time, already 3 minutes faster than the first starter Bikienga. Tsoukina will fail only 7 seconds behind the lybian.

Dube took the lead in 1h03'37'', but he couldn't do anything against the remarkable performance of Debesay, who becames first 50 seconds ahead. He caught 2 riders on is way to the finish line : Petrus and Anguilet.

Thomson closes the first round of riders in 2nd position, at 47 seconds of Debesay. Lagab crossed the line fourth, at 1'07''.

An exhausted A.Arissol finishes provisional 2nd, at only 5 seconds of Debesay ! Ayivon with also an nice ride should get a Top 10.

Terrible performance from Chtioui, not even in the provisional Top 10. A rider even managed to catch him...

It's Laizer ! The rider from Tanzania pushes Debesay out of 1st place, 27 seconds faster.

Madani and Hussein a bit out of shape it seems, respectively 40 and 35 seconds late behind Laizer.

Last to come is Janse Van Rensburg, and he finishes...13 seconds after Laizer, in second position ! The reigning champion has to leave his title to the Tanzanian, that we didn't expect at such a level today.
It's the same for Debesay, who precedes Teklehaimanot and A.Arissol for bronze medal.
