Be a pro: Still developing to fast?

I am thinking about buying the game, to try the 'be a pro' mode for the first time.

One thing I have seen people talk about, is that you rider, already after 1 season, is potentially a beast with 80+ stats.

Is this true? And if so, can it be tweaked somehow to make a slower and more realistic development of stats?

I feel that in order to compete, you do not only need 80+ in one stat, but you need several high value stats together with that 80+. Certainly you can go for an early 80+ in be a pro mode, especially if you take most of the bonus exp missions first season, but to be able to compete with the top riders in any category you still need several seasons of different kinds of training.
With an early 80+ stat you might do well in some of the lower tier races though, heck you probably do not even need 80+ for that.

When u create your rider, u can decide how much 'potential' he has, and how fast he reaches that potential. So if u feel u improve too fast, u can just change the setting.
However I dont think its adjustable after creating your rider, u might have to start a new game with the setting u want.
