If you want to present your database on PCM.daily, make sure to follow these rules about the download links.
These rules serve to ensure our members that the downloads that are offered on our website are safe and they can download the content easily.
1. Send the download link to haasje33, so he can add it to the Downloads section of this website.
2. Don't ask for a spot in the Recommended Downloads. It's up to the admins of PCM.daily to choose which downloads end up there.
3. Always post the link to the PCM.daily Downloads section first and optionally a mirror as second option.
4. If you upload your DB to an external mirror, use one of the mirrors in the spoiler below. Links to downloads sections of other trusted communities are allowed.
List of allowed mirrors:
Spoiler
- Dropbox
- Google Drive
- Mediafire
- Mega.nz
- OneDrive
- Box
If you have a different option than listed above, please consult an admin, so he can check if it's safe to use. We only allow English sites.
Thread optimization
When you publish a database, your goal is usually to get as many downloads as possible. To achieve this, there are a few things you need to consider while creating a presentation/download thread.
1. Title. Make sure your thread's title gives a clear overview of what your database is. After all, a good title will increase the chance of members clicking on it to examine it further. Adding one of these prefixes helps with that, as well as it helps us organize the downloads in the Downloads section.
- [Current database]
- [Historic database]
- [Fictional database]
2. Layout. The layout of your thread is also very important. The better the thread looks, the more likely a member will download your database. For example, use banners or quotes to highlight your headers.
3. Description. Of course, a good description is also very important. It needs to be clear what the contents of the database are. My tip: use a bit of text to emphasize the most important features of the database and then create a list with the complete features below it. Don't make the text itself too long, because members might get distracted sooner.
4. Screenshots. Adding screenshots of your database will also increase the chance of getting more downloads a lot. If members can see what your database looks like in game, they'll get triggered to download it sooner.
Support
The ideal way to provide support to the members that chose to download your database is to post a link to a support thread at your own community. If you don't have a support thread don't create a separate thread for support here, but let people ask their questions and report their bugs in your download thread. Try to answer the questions as much as possible and try to fix any bugs as soon as possible. When fixing bugs, it's best not to release bugfixes for every single bug, but wait until you have fixed a couple of bugs. That way, members won't need to download too many updates.
