Sooo, I'm about to end the Giro with FDJ, as the 18th stage proved to be something crazy, or just buggy... My norwegian puncheur O. Eiking, with 73 in hills and 68 in montains, was sitting in the mountain jersey suprisingly after being in almost every breakaway. In stage 17 something weird happened...

Yes, under certain circumstances, it happens that the peloton doesn't chase at all. That usually occurs in NCs with few participants, when the stronger teams have men in the break and other teams aren't able or interested to bring the escapees back. It's very unusual to have that happen in the Giro though. It's annoying, but relatively simple to "fix", just have your riders relay with enough effort to keep the break at 20 minutes or so, should have little to no effects for the next stages.
