As for the cycling event, 4 months pro factum, I'd say Kolobnev is gonna win it. Smile

The olympic fire reached Paris today, but it has been "put out" (isn't that an English term?). Some medias say it was the demonstrants who did it, others say it was the police.

Politics should never be linked to sport. Especially the Olympics Rolling Eyes

Unfortunately it wouldn't surprise me if something happened during the games like a terrorist attacks. They talked about that they already found plans of one attack.

Well, what are the Olympics ? I mean the genuine ones ?
Merely sports games, yes. But all kind of wars between cities (=nations in our wide world) should stop all kind of wars during that time.

With what's happening in Tibet right now, it can hardly be called peace. And China is not only a participating country, but the host country, thus you get what's happening now with the Olympic fire.

Am I the only one feeling Beijing 2008 could be called "72 years later" ?

It's not just tibet. they're killing or imprisioning everyone that is handicapped, poor, etc. so Beijing will look "nice" for foreigners

Do people think they should move the RR because of the atmosphere (pollution) in Bejing?

p3druh
No... USA and 3/4 of Europe would never hold a cycling race if you take the polution in to consideration...

I'd say only 1/2 of America couldn't be raced. I don't think the pollution for such a small amount of time will cause any problems except make them tire more easily.

I wan't refering only to the polution... Extreme weather conditions would also make it impossible to race there...

Could it be really worst than Flanders in early Spring or such races ?

Levi4life
1/2 of America unsuitible for riding?

I don't know, I kinda like riding in America:lol: And we certainly have a lot of races all over the country. I could almost understand LA being to polluted to be viable for the Olympic but they've done it once and Junior Nationals are in the City of Angels this year anyways. Philly week is held in and around Philadelphia, there are marathons in New York... were would be unsuitable? Maybe Alaska:lol:

It's just been revealed that a Danish athlete has been tested positive. At 14:00, it will be revealed who it is on a press conference.
