The team had lost it's sponser and manager because of their bad results last year. They quickly found a new young Irish manager named Denieve Thomas(although he prefers thommy). He seemed to be a good manager as he quickly got 2 great new main sponsors: Stiegl (Austrian beer) and Tele Atlas (Mapping for GPS).

First Press conference:
Interviewer: Helo Thomas Denieve, ...
Denieve: Oh, please say Thommy!
Interviewer: Err... Ok, Thommy. Your team did quite bad last season, what are you going to do to improve their results now your in charge?
Denieve: Well, I have analised the team and noticed they don't lack any quality to win in the mountains or hills. The problems is we can't win mass sprints.
Interviewer: And do you have a solution for that?
Denieve: Aye! I would not be Thommy If I didn't had a solution for that. I can announce that we signed 2 free agents, they are both sprinters! The young Anuar Manan and Alejandro Barrajo from Agrentina.
Interviewer: That sounds good! But does your team's financial status allows you to buy those riders?
Denieve: Yup! Yerr right. I had to fire 2 riders. There names are José Rafael Martínez and Jesús Hernández.
Interviewer: I see. And what is your season goal?
Denieve: Winning some races and promoting to the Pro Tour.
Interviewer: Wow... That might just be a little optimistic after such a bad year but I wish you good luck.
Denieve: I'm not optimistic! I'll talk to you again at the end of the season.
Interviewer: That's a deal. Bye
Denieve: Bye

So José Rafael Martínez and Jesús Hernández have left the team.

The new signings were:
-Anuar Manan

-Alejandro Barrojo.

Tour De San Louis, Stage 1:

The riders selected for the team's first tour are the following:
img256.imageshack.us/img256/2941/sanluisridersselectedsr8.jpg
A balanced combination between hill, TT and sprinters were chosen for this race. Anuar Manan was left home because he would probably not make it to the finish line together with the rest of the pack because of the many hills.

Today's race is a short and flat time trial. This won't be important for the GC because it's only 3km but we'll try to win it with our TT specialist Jan Hruska.
img261.imageshack.us/img261/5162/sanluiss1parcourin4.jpg

img374.imageshack.us/img374/6071/sanluiss1cobocastanajt7.jpg
With Castano being the 3th rider to start, our riders have a good target to aim at. Even favourite Cobo couldn't ride faster.

img261.imageshack.us/img261/6265/sanluiss1hruskakf3.jpg
Hruska was looking sharp at the start and finished 1 second after the current leading Castano with only 1 top favourite to go (Garrido).

img374.imageshack.us/img374/7096/sanluiss1garridonk0.jpg
Garrido could see the finish line coming closer, will he improve Castano's time? Yes he did, he rode just 1 second faster!

Garrido had just crossed the finishing line when Vicioso did what nobody expected. He rode better then Castano and took the second place! That was a great thing for the GC because he can make it in the hills also.
No other surprises for the rest of the race. Our team managed a great 2nd and 4th place.

Tour De San Louis, Stage 2:

The 2nd stage is quite flat with a hill at the start. Today we'll try to do good in the mass sprint and send someone in front to get the KOM jersey.
img261.imageshack.us/img261/5072/sanluiss2parcourve2.jpg

img374.imageshack.us/img374/8002/sanluiss2komsprinttn0.jpg
There were a lot of attacks short before the top of the mountain and Moreno didn't managed to get the points. He ended 3th and Bazhenov would be the one to wear the KOM jersey at the end of the day. With Team Stiegl Atlas' first objective failed and the peleton chaising the breakaway, they would aim for the mass sprint.

The breakaway remained with 6 after a fight against the peleton who was coming near, but they decided to let them ride.
The first intermediate sprint was easilly won by Moreno. He was clearly the best sprinter in the group who lost 2 riders during the sprint.

Moreno also took the 2nd intermediate sprint. But the peleton had already brought the gap down to less than 4 minutes with still 50km to go. The stage would probably end up in a mass sprint.

With 30km to go, only 3 riders were in the front group. And with only 1:30 between them the finish line was too far away for the breakaway, so Moreno stopped working so he would manage to follow the peleton when they are reeled in.

The peleton finally reeled in the escape group with only 20km to go. The high speed didn't allowed anyone to get away so it would end in a mass sprint as predicted earlier.

img261.imageshack.us/img261/9549/sanluiss2trainsprintcu7.jpg
With 6km to go, Team Stiegl Atlas had a nice train formed for the sprint. Let's just hope that the leader, who's in Vicioso's wheel, can't sprint past them.

img256.imageshack.us/img256/4277/sanluiss2finishiz6.jpg
Richeze was too strong for the other sprinters and Vicioso finished 2nd wich earned him the leader jersey.

We did a great job today. Although we didn't got the KOM jersey, we are now leading the GC and that's the most important! And Ángel Vicioso should be able to take that jersey home at the end of the Tour of San Louis.

Tour De San Louis, Stage 3:

img397.imageshack.us/img397/2413/sanluiss3parcourek3.jpg
Today's stage is quite flat and will probably end in a mass sprint again. We'll try to get Moreno in a breakaway again to get some more KOM points at the small hill. Then we'll just try to get some extra seconds for the GC by ending in the top 3 with Vicioso.

At the start of the race there was an early breakaway with Moreno in it, but it didn't seemed as he would get the KOM points as they were quickly reeled in again. Maybe the peleton didn't wanted to let go one of the riders of the GC leading team.

img160.imageshack.us/img160/2686/sanluiss3breakvo8.jpg
A new break containing 5 riders was soon formed with Jan Hruska (4th in the GC) in it. Although this dangerous person from the leading team was in it the peleton seemed to let them ride.

The break was only 6.5km from the KOM points as the peleton suddely appeared behind them. The KOM jersey was now further away than ever with 2 guys who had already used energy in a break away and the other riders who were needed in the sprint.

The KOM sprint didn't went so bad after all with Mereno finishing 2nd in it. He just couldn't hold himself from attacking for it. This might just give him the jersey, but we'll see that at the end of the race.

At 50km of the finish, a strange intermediate sprint allowed a group of 25 riders to get away. It seemed innocent as they let the peleton reel them in, when suddenly a time difference of 5 minutes was noticed between the front group and the peleton. The leading team quickly placed some men in front of the peleton and with the aid of Liquigas the gap was shrinking. Let's just hope they can reel them in fast enough!

Only 5km to go and the group has still 30 seconds! We might get a new GC leader but the peleton can still reel them in. It's a really exciting end of this stage.

img233.imageshack.us/img233/7303/sanluiss3startsprintne8.jpg
When the sprint started, the tail end of the front group was in sight of the peleton. Our good sprinters are not in a great position but they should be able to get the break back!

img160.imageshack.us/img160/3350/sanluiss3sprintendvj9.jpg
A 5th or 6th place for Vicioso is not too bad after the hectic final. At least the break didn't stayed in front of the peleton, so no new GC leader.

This 11km long ITT will be interesting for the ITT. It's sure some things will change. So let's hope Vicioso has a good form so he can keep the lead!

img406.imageshack.us/img406/8453/sanluiss4perezcuapiobp1.jpg
One of the stage favourites seems to be badly placed for the GC and starts quite early. He didn't rode very well and ended only 3th in this early stage of the race.

img207.imageshack.us/img207/1636/sanluiss4sevillaencobooz8.jpg
Sevilla is currently the 4th, wich is not bad. The other favourite, Cobo, didn't managed to do better.

img160.imageshack.us/img160/6963/sanluiss4viciosolz1.jpg
Vicioso rode as fast as possible to keep his jersey. He lost 12 seconds on the stage winner and his leader jersey to the second on this stage. But with only 4 seconds behind he should get it back after getting some sprint points.

Watch out, the next stage, classified as hilly, can go either way, I have won by a lot on it, and also lost a lot of time, so play it smartly if you want to do well

Tour De San Louis, Stage 5:

img181.imageshack.us/img181/6696/sanluiss5parcouras8.jpg
Today is a dangerous stage. The hills might allow a break to get away, but this is Vicioso's chance to get back his leader jersey as he is one of the big favourites.

img258.imageshack.us/img258/4240/sanluiss5break1pu4.jpg
The first break is a group of 6 riders with KOM leader Moreno in it. Later the group growed to 12 riders due to a counter attack with 6 other riders.

img230.imageshack.us/img230/3616/sanluiss5kompoints1od2.jpg
Moreno expands his lead by being the first on the top of the hill.

The second mountain sprint is won by Moreno with only a few millimeters of advantage on Vanotti.

In the intermediate sprint, Vanotti is the strongest, followed by Bazhenov and Moreno. The break still has a 3 minute lead with 23 km to go.

img258.imageshack.us/img258/5383/sanluiss5finishsa0.jpg
The front group had just made it! Canada won this stage and Niemic was the new leader who would probably win this tour. Vicioso could have taken the leader jersey if he wouldn't be drinking when Cobo attacked, since Cobo still made it to the front group.

Manager's words: The KOM jersey is won by Moreno now, that's sure. But if Vicioso would not have been drinking when Cobo attacked he would have the leader jersey so I'm not happy about this race's results.

Announcement: Shirt change
Today, before the start of the last stage of the Tour de San Louis, Team Stiegl Atlas made an important announcement. Due to some problems with the Tour de France organisation (for wich they hope to get a wildcard) because there jersey has too much green in it and resembles the points jersey. They did not want to loose there possible wildcard so decided to design a new jersey. After UCI approved the idea they started working and you can see the result below.
Press conference for the jersey release:
Denieve (Stiegl Atlas manager): Hi all. Today the new jersey of our team will be showed for the first time. But first, you can all ask your question.
Eurosport journalist: Is it true that your team didn't had a chance to get a TDF wildcard without changing the outfit? It is said that it resembles the TDF Points jersey too much.

Denieve: Indeed, that is correct. But that made a good reason for us to change our jersey.

Cycling weekly: Did you wanted to change your jersey?

Denieve: Well, we were not really happy with the quality of our jersey. No offence to the designer (I made it Pfft)! And this was a good reason to get a shirt change approved by the UCI.

Cycling weekly: I see.

Denieve: No more question? I guess you just want to see the jersey...

*Denieve then took the new jersey and showed it to the press, with a big proud smile on his face*

Denieve: Here it is:
img147.imageshack.us/img147/3609/newjerseylg7.png

Denieve: As you can see we have a new sponsor, the football team Club Brugge KV.

The jersey is made by me just like the previous jersey but it wasn't so good. I think this one is better.

The trick with the drinks is to make sure you have enough green bar in the period when you think attacks may come.
