I'm currently a Pro Conti team and want to sign a decent name to add to my team for next year to push me into the World Tour. The problem I have is I have to wait for riders to wait to accept my offer.
Then they want more money (which being a Pro conti team I can't really afford even though I do try and offer them more)
As I only have budget to sign 2 decent riders I can only offer contracts to 2 at a time. However I then fail to sign them and after 3 rounds of this all the decent riders are taken up.
try to sign not the biggest riders, they don't want to come to your team probably.
Try to sign the talents that have potential and can grow, they are usually not as expensive and want to come, also they can develop quickly and bring you the wins.
Still, the problem remains and I wish Cyanide would change the system. Really, you'd want to offer contracts to 5 or even 10 riders simultaneously, knowing that most of them will choose another team, but you can't do that because of the restrictions.
Personally, to help with that, I use an editor (look around for the Fast Editor) and increase the wage of just one current rider for the month of July. If your top earner gets 20k/month, up it to 120k and now you have that extra 100k to work with. Obviously, don't spend it all and reduce his wage again after you've completed your signings.
Otherwise, similar to what Timo said, look for cheaper options so you can offer them more than they are asking for. I'm not sure how much offering more helps, for example, as a top WT team I offered a rider 44k when he was asking for 36k and he still signed with a lowly continental team instead (for 36k).
A last idea is to hope for luck with U23 riders which you can sign on the 25th of July. They can have an AVG of up to 72 and will definitely still improve. They ask for just 2.5k - and you sign them immediately. If you tick the trainee box they'll even start riding for you on the 1st of August.
