With the Aussie NC`s having started, time for a 2016 thread.
Caleb Ewan won the Criterium NC ahead of Brenton Jones and Giacoppo.
Today the ITT`s and the first of many BMC duels I guess.
Rohan Dennis though won the first after being beaten last year, when he lost ~ half a minute alone on the 2nd uphill half.
Are the Scotson`s brothers? Looking like nice prospects. Miles already up there last season.

Sonofa was going to do this but was watching cricket replay. Didn't have ITT yet but was going for it.
Anyway my opening post with everything roturn missed and nothing he included
Spoiler Australian Elite Men's National Criterium Championships
1 | Caleb Ewan (NSW) | 0:59:54 | | 2 | Brenton Jones (Vic) | s.t. | 3 | Anthony Giacoppo (WA) | s.t. | 4 | Patrick Shaw (Vic) | s.t. | 5 | Alexander Edmondson (SA) | s.t. | 6 | Jackson Law (NSW) | 0:00:04 | 7 | Luke Parker (Vic) | s.t. | | 8 | Scott Sunderland (WA) | 0:00:07 | | 9 | Joel Walsh (NSW) | s.t. | 10 | Robbie Hucker (Vic) | 0:00:11 | |
Ewan wins, no need to worry about what the world is coming to. My pick for the road race on Sunday, but quite some contenders should make exciting race. Basically Edmondson impressed in his first full OGE race, delivered Ewan perfectly to a title building on last year's second place.
Solid performance from Dennis good to see him beat Portechkin

Pat Bevin just took the NZ TT. Expect him to win the road race, even though it may be hard against his former Avanti team there.. This guy will be beasty soon! Cannondale though might be one step too early..

Jesse Sergent really was disappointing here. 6th and more than 2min down...
As you say, Bevin is favourite. Though I really hope Greg Henderson can somehow win the RR as it would be his very first NC win in his last year probably. |

Nice to see another minor favorite group get away, team tactics really dictating things. Still, good to see Jace in the fern this year!

#JacksBack (it's a thing )
Jack Bobridge - Absolute Legend. Smashed it for over 3h with some help from Sulzberger but a lot of soloing. It's barely finished but for a smaller race one of my all-time favorite performances on a bike <3 And ofc with all that front riding took KoM and sprint comps One of the first attackers, second wave to make it clear iirc. 2"52 down to Meyer, and another minute after that was Pat Lane (avanti lad )

That was a pretty incredible ride from bobridge, Orica let him get too far in front before imploding during the chase when the peloton split into smaller groups. Was a little worried for him during the last couple of laps when e looked done, but Meyer was too far behind. I'm surprised he could give an interview right after e finished.

Avila and Sarmiento btw. were part of the breakaway.
Henao and Quintana chased with couple others. Quintana was dropped in the final by Henao, while Avila attacked Sarmiento. Was a couple seconds between all of them.
But quite surprised to see a "sprinter" taking it on a hard course with at least Sarmiento and Anacona in the break as well and with the "stars" putting a lot of pressure from behind. |

21 y.o. Daniel Gregory wins USA Road Race competition. Exceptional talent, yes( no/maybe? He certainly has the right attitude to not embarass himself on circuit races and is quite admirable in his approach to racing.
“I tried not to look back but when I looked back I saw the gap and I knew I just had to go full gas. Because I knew at that point I couldn’t sprint. And then I just kept going to the line.
“I don’t want to make a fool of myself when I came to the line in case there was already a group up the road so I looked at the clock and saw zero laps to go and the timer at zero, so I was the first one. I couldn’t believe it. I was just like, ‘What?’ I just can’t believe it.”

I couldn't give less of a fuck about NC's now that Chris Anker won in Denmark last year, all I hope is Valverde's jersey will look better in the Tour. Hungary's, Vincenzos, preferably as well! |

Czech and Slovakian joint NCs, taking place in South Moravia in 23.6. - 25.6.16 should this time see complete list of stars from both countries, so Vakoč (jersey holder), Kreuziger, Štybar, König!, Bárta...and Sagan brothers, Baška, Kolář for Slovakia.

The NC season is approaching...
I always look forward to seeing who will bring colour to the peloton and which jerseys can bee kept away from those "designers" that has their minds firmly set on making them look like crap.

Agreed. And hopefully, some of the Tour's biggest starts will wear them (if they aren't ugly... on the other hand, its nice to always be able to identify riders from the helicopter shots).
I know Rodriguez, Contador, Valverde and Landa (?) are riding the NC's in Spain. Hopefully one of them will win. Well, if Spain's NC jersey is as bad at Movistar, someone other than Valverde can win it. Sky are making good NC's.
How about Italy - route and are Aru or Nibali turning up? Aru has been completely obsessed with altitude camps.
Pinot has literally designed the course in France, hopefully, he will win there. Bardet would be cool as well. |
