Welcome to the Dutch Championships, first the Road Race!
Break of the Day
R. Flens
R. Ruijgh
J. Bovenhuis
T. Dees
B. Mollema
L. Westra
D. Rijntjes
T. Eltink
The break overtake the pack for a second time with 30 km left and 16 minutes virtual difference, go figure everything else out!
Theo Eltink starts his attack with 5 km left and sets out his bold attempt to win the title!
D. Rijntjes tries to follow and can see how Eltink is going with it all, so he wants a piece of the cake and perhaps even the whole of it!
Eltink is losing pace, as is Rijntjes! Lieuwe Westra sets out a strong final sprint for the win, however still some gap for the TT rider up to Eltink!
Eltink is quite good at preserving his energy, Westra and Ruijgh might be too far away to challenge for the win!
Theo Eltink wins the Dutch NC! What a way to win the title and what a guy to put the jersey on! Westra comes in 2nd and Tim Dees takes the last podium spot
Joost Posthuma sets the first real competitive time, which all riders want to beat or even beat to death, the time is 1h10'54, I can promise you a faster time looking at other Time Trials on this route
Tom Dumoulin has a hard day on the office and comes in 16 seconds after Posthuma and thus won't have anything to say right from the start
Robert Gesink starts his Time Trial already as second last and he will try and take the title from Keizer! He has shown some great Time Trials this year and it has definitely saved face for him in the GT's this year.
Martjin Keizer is next and he is defending National Champion and a huge responsibility is on his shoulders. He has dominated the PCT to death in the moutains, but today the course is flat and the clock will show how he does with the favorite role.
Rick Flens sets and amazing time at 1h08'05 and he is however beaten by 5 seconds on the first intermediate by Keizer and Gesink is 10 seconds after Keizer on the first intermediate time!
Lars Boom is an amazing TT rider, but only sets 2nd place with stunning 54 seconds to Flens and thus show how fast Flens actually went
Short message from the battlefield : Gesink is seeing black and is 39 seconds after Flens at 3rd intermediate, while Keizer is 4 seconds after Flens! Flens must be really nervous, cause he got a chance of winning!
Thomas Dekker comes in 54 seconds after Flens and thus can't compete for the win
Bad day for Robert Gesink and he finishes his TT with a gap of 43 seconds to Flens, now we only have Martjin Keizer left...
And lets see what time Keizer gets...He gets the same time as Flens and the winner is...
Rick Flens wins the Dutch TT championship and will wear the NC for the whole next season, how wild is that!
