The first NC this year is a special one. It`s one without teams. Everyone represents his own country as single rider. 14 riders are at the start and the big standout of those surely Marc De Maar as a very popular rider.
4 riders decide to go into the break early. Without teams it is a high chance to take the win as seen in lots of previous years` NC`s. Antonio Chhetri Jiatz Randrianambinina
And indeed all other riders give up on the win knowing that they will take their country`s National Jersey anyway. This includes Marc de Maar as top favourite.
The 4 in front did work together until the very last climb. It`s Chhetri with the first attack with 2,5km to go.
Jiatz though is joining him quickly and even counters the attack with a stronger one. The Mobil rider also was the strongest puncheur of those and is creating a gap now while the dup behind is dropped for sure.
Until the finish line the small gap became bigger and bigger and so he takes the win on todays route 30s ahead of Chhetri.
Antonio and Randrianambinina already 1'15 later while all others finish after being lapped.
The time trial was dominated by top favourite De Maar. No other rider came even close as none of them is any good against the clock. So the Carlsberg rider takes it with more than 2min ahead of Destribois and Petrovski.
