The Tour of America will kick off with a prologue in Baltimore. A 6km flat circuit through the heart of this city, offering the spectators an unique experience.

Haugard, Oliveira, van Rensburg and Gonzalez Salas as the favorites, with a few more riders capable of riding into the race-lead today!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/vtb.png Schär sets the first notable best time with 7'54! Some tricky conditions early into the prologue, as we do have crosswinds up to 44kmh today. Schär with quite an impressive time, as we see at least one favorite far off his time as 3rd so far:

+ 2 seconds behind Schär as provisional 2nd ahead of Pökälä!

+ 4 seconds as 3rd so far! That's better than Oliveira, but still less than expected..

+ 7 seconds as 5th behind Pökälä, so another favorite failing to beat a long leading Schär!

A local favorite with a strong late performance then: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/tt1.png Barton was considered a minor threat for a great result in this prologue and the US boy delivers:

+ 1 second on Schär with no more promising specialist to come!

And so it's the stage-win and GC-lead for Schär! He obviously had the best legs today. His long lasting best time was too strong for everyone else. Will he hold on to this lead in the first flat stage tomorrow? Let's take a look at who of the top-sprinters may be in striking distance:
