USA Pro Cycling Challenge - Stage 7
The Rider
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/Stage 7.jpg

The big stage of this huge stage race is finally upon us. With an almost 50 kilometre final climb, we will know who will win the USAPCC at the end of today.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/BT1.jpg
9 riders make the break:

- pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/cdb.png Bøchman
- pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sod.png Chaabane
- pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ice.png Landa
- pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/chi.png Montenegro
- pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gen.png Possoni
- pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/san.png Rodas
- pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Signorini ( @ 10'53)
- pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/nns.png Sinkewitz
- pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/cpl.png Wang

Surely a great break for many of these climbers to be apart of, not least super climber pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Signorini!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/BT2.jpg

Can pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ioc.png Novak and his team hold the GC today?

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/BT3.jpg
45 KM to go: Break @ 2'50.

We are now on the final climb to the finish, yes, already! We see four riders attack out of the peloton: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/tt1.png Barton, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/lpu.png De Greef, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fxg.png Roe and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/lpu.png Rosa.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/BT4.jpg
A favourite goes!

As these four struggle to make inroads into the original break, with 28 KM to go we see a big favourite attack out of the dwindling peloton - pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/cpl.png Gilanipoor! The Iranian started the stage just 2'11 down in GC, very much a danger for the GC. The Sweat is on for all of those in the top 5 GC-wise.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/BT5.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ioc.png In-n-Out realize this danger and a few kilometres later affect the move which sees 7 riders distance the rest of the favourites. The big names in this 7 man group being: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ioc.png Novak and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/chi.png Martinez.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/BT6.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/dek.png Sørensen leads the chase, the rest of the favourites group down to c.30 now.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/BT7.jpg

Next we see group pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ioc.png Novak bridge across to group pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/tt1.png Barton with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/cpl.png Gilanipoor in there too. Rest of the favourites in the distance behind, they must close the gap soon if they soon if they are to close it at all.

With over 10 KM to go the original break still have well over 1'00 to this new group.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/BT8.jpg

With a sniff of victory in the sinuses we see pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ice.png Landa & pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/chi.png Montenegro attack first out of the lead group.

Behind group pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ioc.png Novak continues to put time into those behind. Why is this?

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/BT9.jpg
Team orders!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/dek.png Anacona sitting up after driving along the pace. Clearly the strongest of this five man group (also including: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/act.png Morabito, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/dek.png Sørensen, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/dek.png Samoilev and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Atapuma), however, the Colombian is waiting for his Belarusian teammate today. This five man group has distanced good climbers behind, however, they are losing plenty of time to those ahead now.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/BT10.jpg

Out-front we see new attacks to lead the race. A much more assured effort this time sees pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/san.png Rodas and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Signorini leave everyone in their dust. For the first time on this climb the breakaway riders are putting time into the favourites now.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/BT11.jpg

Teammates are proving vital today. He we see pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/cpl.png Wang helping out his team leader after being in the break all day long.
Group pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ioc.png Novak catches much of the early break.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/BT12.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Signorini looking fantastic. The now sole leader is putting in a climbing masterclass, it is not long before he leads the race by 1'00 from pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/san.png Rodas. The stage win for the Italian looking more and more likely.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/BT13.jpg
Some time gaps.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/BT14.jpg
8 KM to go!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/chi.png Montenegro destroys the yellow jersey for his teammate pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/chi.png Martinez as teammates again prove their worth. The Cuban started the stage 1'28 down in GC, can he make this up?!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/BT15.jpg

As the Czech rider still has the loyal pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ioc.png Hardy to help with the the pace, we see pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/cpl.png Gilanipoor distance pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/chi.png Martinez towards the top.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/BT16.jpg

About 1'30 behind the best of the GC favourites we see group pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/act.png Morabito andpcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/dek.png Samoilev well in contention for top 5 GC places. But one wonders what damage pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/dek.png Anacona might have done on this mountain.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/BT17.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Signorini knows the victory is coming as the last steep slopes are dealt with.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/BT18.jpg
Victory no.2 for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png
Indosat - ANZ!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Signorini really found his climbing legs on the final climb of this gruelling stage today. With the KOM jersey already secured this is another cherry on the cake for them! He would finish 1'26 ahead of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/san.png Rodas (2nd) and 2'33 ahead of.....

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/BT19.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/cpl.png Gilanipoor, the best of the GC riders today. His finish would see him rise in the GC, but to 1st place?

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/BT20.jpg
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ioc.png Novak holds the GC lead!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ioc.png Novak, barring a technical, will win the USAPCC. He will go into the final stage ahead of Gilanipoor (2nd @ '50) and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/chi.png Martinez (3rd @ '58).

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/act.png Morabito andpcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/dek.png Samoilev both drop down two positions in the GC, but still well above where they would have fancied finishing.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/dek.png Anacona only distanced the rest of his group in the final meters up to the line, 8th in GC for him with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Atapuma holding his polka dots jersey and 6th place.
