USA Pro Cycling Challenge - Stage 4
The Rider
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/Stage 4.jpg

Here it is then, the TT: a TT of great length with some sharp hills. Many people will think if pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/lpu.png Senni can hold the GC lead, he might have a real shot at holding on to the overall until the finish: given this history of this race. Can he do it?

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/TT1.jpg

After losing plenty of time, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/aks.png Bontenackels found himself as one of the earliest starters and he didn't disappoint. His final time of 58'30 was the early time to beat: '19 faster than Sterbini.

Would this stand the test against another early participant, stage favourite, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sva.png Tennant?

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/TT2.jpg
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sva.png Tennant destroys the best time!

The British champ set a split time of 31'41 on the way to a fantastic time of 57'17. Some '57 faster than pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gat.png Aramendía. Is that game over already? That time was more than worthy of taking the stage win, but would it be unbeatable today?

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/TT3.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/cdb.png Bøchman was the closest challenger for a long while, he was just '16 down at the split. But the Danish champ never threatened the best time.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/TT4.jpg

And pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Kruopis, green jersey, was '25 down on pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sva.png Tennant at the split but would be well down in the end.

With under 50 riders to finish, no one looked like challenging the Brit.... that is, until...

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/TT5.jpg
... we see two split times annihilate pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sva.png Tennant's split time.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sva.png Tennant went through the split with a time of 31'41: well pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/chi.png Haga (left) went through with a time of 31'13 some '27 faster.

That was just moments before pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/act.png Morabito (right) went through the split with a time of 31'11!

These two, who both started over 4'00 down in the GC, would be the two to contest the win today. Find out later on in the report whether pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/chi.png Haga could accomplish his team's stage win goal by making up ground on pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/act.png Morabito.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/TT5-5.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fxg.png Roe (above) and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/cdb.png Koep would both put in a solid effort to finish the stage in the top 10 today. Their managers will question how they could put in such a ride today yet manage to get dropped on stage 2!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/TT6.jpg
The Belarusian champion going great guns!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/dek.png Samoilev, would put in a great ride at the split and be in real contention for taking the yellow jersey today: being one of the top TT guys who finished in the group of favourites on stage 2.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/TT7.jpg
Final split times.

Other notables:

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/chi.png Duggan@ '55
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/chi.png Martinez@ '57
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/dek.png Pökälä@ '58
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Signorini@ 1'03
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/cpl.png Gilanipoor@ '1'10
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/lpu.png Senni@ 1'27

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/dek.png Anacona finds himself even further behind the above names, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Atapuma doubly so!

The big surprises of day being pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/san.png Rodas, who would finish in the top 10, and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Signorini putting up a good time.

At the split, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/lpu.png Senni is still provisionally leading the GC. However, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ioc.png Novak, is coming on strong and has set the best split time of the GC men.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/TT8.jpg

Can pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ioc.png Novak gain the '27 more seconds needed, in the final part of the course, to move into the GC lead?

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/TT9.jpg

It is really close. At the finish there would be only '10 separating pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/lpu.png Senni from pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ioc.png Novak. But which way would it go?

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/TT10.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/nns.png Domagalski passes pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Atapuma. The pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/nns.png Netia - Norske Skog rider would finish 10th on the stage and move within '30 of the race lead, despite dropping down to 4th. Whereas the Colombian would end the day more than 2'30 from the race lead.

Now to answer the questions:

- Stage Win: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/chi.png Haga or pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/act.png Morabito?

- GC lead: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/lpu.png Senni or pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ioc.png Novak?

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/USA/TT11.jpg
Stage win pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/chi.png Haga!

He completes his team's goal by reversing the deficit to pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/act.png Morabito to win by a solitary second!

The GC lead goes to ...... pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ioc.png Novak. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/lpu.png Senni (@'10) couldn't pull it off and is down to 2nd ahead of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/dek.png Samoilev (@'17), who is one of two pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/dek.png DeLaval - Kiitokori riders in the top 5.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/dek.png Anacona finds himself more than 2'00 down with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Atapuma at 2'33. Interesting tactics to be played out for the Colombian climbers, each of whom have more than teammate ahead of them in the GC.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/cpl.png Dyachenko @ '44, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/chi.png Martinez @ 1'02 and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Signorini @ 1'15 may be the biggest threats to the GC now.
