Time for the only stage that isn't all about mountains: The TTT.
Eritel is the first team out and having some good TT-depth their time should be good reference for the others.
GC leader Sarmiento loses contact with his teammates just before the 2nd intermediate, where the team is 35 seconds slower than Eritel.
RBC is having a great day beating Eritel by 30 seconds at the 2nd intermediate and spotting Euskaltel under the 5 km gate.
At the first intermediate Children of Chernobyl featuring the Cypriotic champion were only 2 seconds down on RBC, but at the 2nd the time loss is up to 25 seconds so it doesn't look like they'll be able to challenge the Canadian outfit.
All eyes on Kenya Airways. They crossed the first intermediate in the same time as RBC and they continue looking strong as they approach the 2nd time-check.
They lose a lot of time on the last half though and are nowhere near challenging for the win in the end.
Mobil - Aeropostal however have only been mediocre in the time-check but their solid depth featuring 3 national champions gets them a somewhat surprising best time across the finish line beating RBC by a second.
Another team gaining ground in the last half of the stage is Project: Africa, however they have to make do with provisional 3rd.
ONCE is doing great in the first part holding the best time with everyone past the first intermediate:
Keizer is taking some massive pulls for his team holding 2nd best time on both intermediates at the moment with both ONCE and Azteca still to pass the second time-check.
There appears to be no stopping ONCE today as they also takes best time at the second intermediate.
Aegon provisional 3rd in goal.
Siam Cement with a strong last part clocks in provisional 3rd.
Meanwhile all cemeras were directed at ONCE expecetd to destroy Mobil Aropostal's dreams of a stage win but they compeltely fell apart within the last 7 km only getting 6th best across the finish line!
